Fallout 3 DLC to raise level cap to 30

Speaking with Eurogamer, Fallout 3 DLC lead producer, Jeff Gardiner, said that Bethseda is going to raise the level cap from 20 to 30 when DLC, Broken Steel is released in March.

“Along with removing the game’s ‘ending’ with Broken Steel, we figure raising the level cap would allow them to [enjoy the game for longer],” he said.

“We plan on raising it to level 30 – but it will be a long, hard climb to get there!”

    That’s from 20 to 30, rather than 25. ;)

I guess this only applies to the 360 and maybe the PC version then?

Well… yeah. Given that the PS3 version’s not getting any DLC.

What’s this about the ‘ending’ being removed? I’ve not been following the DLC too carefully because I’ve not actually played the full game yet.

After you complete the main quest line the game doesn’t currently allow you to carry on.

Oh, right. So with this in place you can finish, see the ending, then carry on playing to mop up side-quests, etc? I see.

I still think it’s complete bollocks to have platform exclusive extra content/add ons for multiplatform console titles. Stupid idea which hopefully will vanish in the future.

Sorry for my lack of Fallout 3 knowledge

I believe a majority of the Broken Steel content is set after the main game ends and the game world will reflect changes caused by your actions in the endgame section.

So there should be more to it than just giving you a chance to finish all the quests. And, presumably, that is why the ending is removed and the level cap raised in the third expansion rather than the first.

How pointless. I would have found this game so much more appealing if you could carry on with the game after completing the main story line.

    Well, soon you can.
