Just as well it's really nothing like a DeLorean because other than their notorious owner, stainless steel panelling and the BTTF link they're bloody awful cars.

I doubt Amblin own the rights to all hovering cars and as has been discussed already, the car itself - while reminiscent of the BTTF car - isn't actually a DeLorean.

One more thing of course is that EA can afford the best legal advice in the business to check out this sort of stuff before it becomes public.

"It’s was always intended to only be be a vague representation of the DeLorean."

Yeah, that's why I wondered if Amblin know about this.

I've worked on a lot of car games, and one of the biggest issues that car manufacturers had with licencing their cars to games was always the damage that they take. This isn't much of an issue now, because they understand the way games work a lot more than they used to, but this story is a slightly different issue.

What we have here is a car which is based off of one of the most popular film trilogy's ever, and people are going to want to play the game, just to use the car.

Surely Amblin would just have their own next-gen BTTF game if they wanted to...

I just can't see that they'd let EA make money from a representation of one of their most succesful products like that. And if they know about it, then why isn't it an exact replica?

You can be sure that if someone was selling a toy that looked as close to the real thing as this, they'd be hit with a cease and desist order quicker than you can say 1.21 gigawatts.

Criterion have never used licensed cars.

Try appreciating it for what it is, instead of whinging about what its not.

I'm shocked.

It'll never happen again, surely.

Wow, deja vu (note the first post). I actually covered how this wasn't a direct DeLorean clone a while ago, it's just too smooth and rounded, and it's missing bits.

It does seem like a license dodger, and like I said back then, it's a shame really. Having the actual BTTF DeLorean in Paradise City in its full glory would be amazing. But sadly, that's not what this is.

I'd have thought that too, it's just that it doesn't look much like an actual delorean, and it doesn't seem to have the (proper) reactor on the back either.

Making me think that it's just a look-a-like to get around licencing, just like Burnout cars have always been.

I doubt very much it could go ahead without Amblin's knowledge, tbh.
