New Star Ocean: The Last Hope trailer looks amazing
tri-Ace looks to be outdoing itself with this new trailer from the Star Ocean series.
It’s got someone called Edge Maverick in it, and some bird with green hair. Watch it here.
Game’s out March 3 in the US and February 19 in Japan. It will be on three DVDs, if that kind of thing floats your boat.
Now go watch.

I thought the trailer was alright until I saw them talking. They really need to learn to animate faces properly.

It looks good. Although the previews I’ve read suggested it’s nothing special. Will have to wait and see.

Argh – flashing numbers during fights is *such* a turn-off
Space is great, that much is true.

I’m a little disappointed with the character models, truth be told. They look really odd against the backgrounds. I’ve no idea why the Japanese are so far behind at that kind of stuff, there’s no wonder they have trouble shifting stuff to Westerners.

By the way, morriss – those dates you linked are US dates, not European dates. We don’t have a release date for Star Ocean for Europe yet.

Wow, Models are fantastic and it actually looks like gonna be fun to play. This will likely be the first JRPG I pick up in a decade!

As someone who’s played the entire Star Ocean line, I can say with some conviction that this is standard fare, and that’s both good and bad, really … I’m just hoping that triAce won’t keep up the insipidly annoying tradition of making half of one of the most enticing JRPGs I’ve ever played (as I’ve covered before, the second half of Star Ocean games are invariably dross). Please triAce, surprise me just this once?

“As someone who’s played the entire Star Ocean line, I can say with some conviction that this is standard fare,”
It seems to (thankfully) take more inspiration from the earlier titles than the bloated mess of a game that was Star Ocean III. Which can only be a good thing.

I liked SO3, it was so fun. it just had a simple plot compared to the second game, very enjoyable never the less. besides the characters were way more cool, I hated Claude.
and from the trailers this one looks lame compared to previous games. I will still be getting it for sure.
