Hooray!
I always did like Edge, they’re a bunch of snooty gits but they’re more insightful than most too, so it all averages out.

Well, it’s certainly better then GTAIV which really only deserves the “Most Overrated Game Of The Year” Award.

You’re definitely not qualified.

Ahh… What a shame the best game isn’t on the best console, along with the best online experience.

Er no, it’s not.
Nice British 1/2/3 in the developer category (hell the first two are both Guildford based), bit unexpected that.

G1GA is a fool… so closed minded that he’d buy a 360 can opener if he could.

Best hardware…. that’s a joke right?
Jeez, I’ll have to read Edge now to see how they justified that one.
Christ I’m on the fourth unit and 2 of them were manufactured end of October (this year).
Shocking build and design… what a joke.

btw: how did Gears 2 get into best online experience?
i get the feeling someone at Edge is getting stroked/blown by someone in MS
or Edge editors just love waiting 30mins (exaggeration) for match making to complete
crazy world we live in I tell ya’. Edge, most entertaining list I’ve seen yet.

Hey, they’re not my awards… They’re Edge’s.
All I’m saying is that the best developer of the best game would probably be making a lot more money if they’d have worked with the best publisher on the best console, that’s all!
Well, you never know… After FF and eventually MGS go to MS… why not??
Heh, come to think of it, I wonder how many people would be raving about how amazing LBP was if it was an MS exclusive!

I would be. And I would probably by a 360.

For me… Fallout 3, MGS4 and Geometry Wars 2 are the best games this year.
LBP is a great game and very innovative but I have to admit it hasn’t hooked me, it’s more of a game I like to dip in and out of.

I can see why Left 4 Dead is the best online, based on what I’ve read on forums it sounds fantastic in multiplayer. I don’t see why it’s innovative, though.

Yes if it was on 8 DVD9′s, i don’t think it would have worked, too many shooter fans, look what happened to banjo…

Ah, come on… It would probably have been brilliant on 360.
Imagine how many more users it’d have on LIVE over PSN.
Ok, so maybe every user generated level would be Halo themed, but at least it’d have a more active community.

LBP would’ve worked much better as a downloadable title. They should’ve kept their initial idea of having two versions – a fully-formed DVD version and a cheaper, more lightweight PSN version (with the extraneous fluff available via DLC). In fact, they could still do that now – there’s nothing stopping them.

For the full breakdown of why they got the scores they did.
For such a bunch of nice and unpretentious guys, the Edge team don’t half have a massive hard-on for LBP, In my opinion, more for the fact that it’s original, arty and pushing the boundaries, rather than it being the actual best game.
Edge awards are the gaming equivalent of Cannes if you ask me. They represent a small and fairly pretentious niche that can’t help but applaud originality even when faced with superior but not quite as original alternatives.
It’s sort of like in 2000 when Dancer In The Dark, that Bjork film won the Palme D’Or. Was it a more original film than Gladiator? Well, certainly. Was it a more enjoyable, watchable film? Um… No..
It’s the same with LBP, is it more interesting and better crafted than say… Fallout 3? Yeah. Is it a more enjoyable long-term experience? Not in my opinion.
