Nintendo sells 800,000 US Wiis in Thanksgiving week

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata’s told Reuters that more than 800,000 Wiis were sold in the US in Thanksgiving week.

The figure is more than twice the 350,000 sold in the key sales period last year.

“When the economy is strong, people tend to buy three things from the top of their wish list. But when things are bad, people often buy only the first thing on their list,” Iwata said.

“Fortunately for us a lot of shoppers put our products at the top of their list.”

Iwata said DS sales were up about 20 percent during the Thanksgiving holiday week in the US compared with a year earlier.

Psychotext’s numbers are gonna be so off.

It doesn’t matter, either way he will somehow be 500,000 off. Not cus he’s bad at guessing, just cus Wii is an anomaly.

I bet they do 1.5million.

Jesus H. Christ on a bike. I wonder how many they got holed up in their bunkers.

    What did the others do?

Pud: I actually went fairly mental on my Wii prediction this month. I have them at 1.51m.

    I’ll still be 500k off though. :D

Hah yeah, I don’t often disagree with you, but somehow it will be wrong.

My god… I was pretty much exactly 500k out.

    Wii 2.04M
    NDS 1.57M
    360 836k
    PSP 421k
    PS3 378k
    PS2 206k

    It’s a monster that can’t be stopped. 8O
