Stargate developer can’t make payroll, issues statement

As hinted at rather bluntly on, Stargate World developer Cheyenne Mountain is struggling to meet payroll.

Gamespot got a statement from the firm:

“At Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, we have always been upfront with the media and our fans that we are a start up. Like many start ups, we face the same cash-flow issues that all pre-revenue companies face. We have maintained a core of dedicated investors, but the new economic realities are forcing us to seek out additional sources of funding and that’s what we’re doing.

“We continue to move forward on the Stargate Worlds project. We recently completed a successful phase of closed beta testing and we will start a second phase early in 2009. We invite all of your readers to come to our site, check out our fantastic community and sign up for our beta.”

Good luck to all. TV show-based MMO Stargate Worlds has no date as yet.

All this talk of the industry doing very well and possibly beating the down turn – then you read stories like this. Its always sad when developers struggle and close down.

Keep the faith guys, it will all work out in the end.

The real sad thing is that i doubt SGW would get them much either, its looks horrible and outdated, the only thing its got going is that its based off StarGate, when released it would probaly take off in sales and subscribers, then pretty much crash land.
