Fresh Brütal Legend news to come
It’s Brütal Legend week. Having already found out that the game will be at the Spike VGAs on December 14, creator Tim Schafer has now updated the official Double Fine site to tell us that more news regarding the anticipated title is on its way.
Well, that’s what we think he’s saying at least:
Dang, just when I thought it was safe to waste some time, HAUNTED SANDALWOOD sneaks up from behind and goes “Boo!” in a vaguely-brown sort of way.
Frightening! But I can’t help it. My bunions are telling me there will be some sort of news this month and I have to listen. (You try to go back to sleep when your bunions are whispering in that creepy voice. It’s not easy.)
What’s that? How could we skip Charred Topaz and Metallic Chartreuse? You got whiplash? You’re not comfortable moving this fast? Well, it’s not called the “News Comfort Level,” is it?
You got that? That’s why the man’s a genius, apparently.
Thanks, Kotaku.

That’s how one tells a creative writer who has real genius from just another hack, occasionally they detach from reality and spout inspiring gibberish that would take the average person weeks to even make-up. I love it when that happens.
Inspiring gibberish is a literary art-form.
Also: Schafer is awesome. And a genius.

Yes, Schafer is a genius. Just play his games.
I GREATLY look forward to Brutal Legend. Great idea, and great art direction. I’m sure the gameplay will be unique as well.
I just hope gamers support his product this time instead of it winning all the ‘Best game you didn’t play’ awards like Psychonauts got.

I remember that article, and the amusement I felt when reading it, as I had actually played every single game in that article, and even completed most of them. Some of them I’d replayed recently, some of which I’m still in the process of replaying.
As for Brutal Legends, Schafer’s unending passion for making great games never seems to have misfired, so I trust him to pull another winner out of thin-air, he’s done it before. And if it isn’t a financial success, then frankly the gaming mainstream needs a swift, sharp kick up the arse.
[PREDICTION: One week from now, a certain someone is going to be prattling on endlessly about how I was crying over Brutal Legend, and cursing the gaming mainstream with butt-pain in an irrational outburst of Internet anger.
Deedle-deedle-dee!]

Now, taking the piss aside…
I need to try Psychonauts.
But the hype surrounding this has got me excited, and it seems pretty cool.
