Activision announces Guitar Hero 5, new Hawk, Bizarre racer and more at in-game ads conference
According to this MTV post, Activision yesterday confirmed what appears to be a big chunk of its 2009 line-up at a Massive in-game ads conference in New York.
The publisher confirmed Guitar Hero 5 to attendees, showing a shot of gameplay with a Burger King ad included.
The next Tony Hawk game was confirmed to not be played with a standard controller, and will release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS in October.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was also talked about, and will be arriving next autumn.
Even further, the company revealed that Bizarre’s racing game is Bond-themed and will release next September.

That Bond game sounds shit by the sounds of things but Bizarre have a good record with driving games, maybe they’ll make it good?
And Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a shit title. Just call it Call of Duty 5 and have it in modern times, just keep the numbered COD’s to Infinity Ward.
That said, if it’s anything like COD4, it’s a Day One buy.
And Guitar Hero 5 already?
WORLD TOUR’S BEEN ONLY OUT FOR A MONTH!

“The next Tony Hawk game was confirmed to not be played with a standard controller…”
Great! Another plastic toy to bury in the attic – unless the new Tony Hawk game is a Wii exclusive using the balance board…

Isn’t that a whole slew of massive announcements in a small matter of fact type news story? Ok it’s all a bit rumour-y and maybe some of the points are obvious from previous form but still.

Home gaming seems to have entered a similar phase to the post-Playstation arcades, where everyone tries to differentiate themselves from the competition by releasing wafer-thin shit games with “novelty controllers”.

Those posting about their dismay at Tony Hawk: MMIX, all seem to have forgotten that Skate 2 will be out mid next month, and won’t need any peripheral – a point I make, because in order for peripherals to be viable, they need players that will buy them up.
Also, what do we make of “Modern Warfare 2″, then? Could it be overall, a full-featured expansion to CoD4? The game’s been expanded in no significant way since it released. What’s fair to expect from a “sequel”?
