New Riddick trailer is 100% wicked
Good grief yes. Atari’s put out a proper trailer of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and it looks fucking fantastic.
Watch it on Gamersyde.
It’s got a 2009 date for PS3, 360 and PC, the game features online play, a remastered version of Escape from Butcher Bay on the disc, and a space-based scenario resplendent with full HD action.
Do. Want. See why. Thanks, Blerk.

I never played the original. I thought it was a shooter, though – that video looks like it’s not quite as simple as that. Would that be a fair assumption?

I never played the original, although I always wanted to.

It’s a shooter/fighter/platfomer. Ahead of its time, it was. And one of the first Xbox games to employ normal maps. Loved the first one.

Fair amount of RPG-lite questing in the original too, it was a great game.
It was the best attempt to do fisticuffs in first person too.

Ah, yes. That’s true. Great, it was. In fact, it was the reason The Darkness was such a huge disappointment to me.

Indeed, I know a lot of people like The Darkness but it was such a backward step after Riddick it really pissed me off.

Loved the original, way ahead of it’s time imo.
As mentioned already it really raised my expectations for The Darkness and that was just poor beyond belief.
So lets hope they can get back with this, they nailed the atmosphere last time. Especially enjoyed the change up in pace on the last level with the crazy shooting ‘bit’ right at the end after all that sort of sneaking about, really let you let rip.
Aah good memories, can’t wait…

The original was burrrrilliant. Hiding in darkened corners, concealing the body of guards and prisoners you’ve just filled with holes from your rusty shiv. Battering the faces of an endless procession of crack heads in maximum security and then getting the shit scared out of you by beasties darting in and out of your flashlight.
This looks wicked.
