Warner on Lego Potter: No comment

harrypotterandthehalfbloodp.jpg

Warner’s given VG247 a flat “no comment” on the subject of a Harry Potter Lego game, which has been rumoured yet again by CVG this morning.

Our offline sources indicate there may finally be truth to the project.

A Lego Potter title’s been rumoured for years, but licensing issues prevented any go ahead. Warner owns the Lego rights and TT Games, the developer behind all the major Lego games, while EA owns the rights to make Potter games.

It’s been mooted this morning that the twain may have finally met as the last Potter film-game tie-in will release next year, meaning the way would essentially be clear for an EA-sanctioned, non-competitive Potter product to release in its wake.

And everybody involved would rather have pots of extra money than not, clearly.

More on this soon.

A Warner/EA love-in would appear to be the solution here.

I think this would probably be the first Lego game I didn’t buy, though. Potter’s alright, but I’m not exactly a fan.

It could be awesome. It’s the one Lego game that makes a ton of sense. It’s only licensing that’s prevented it happening sooner. Same with Lego LotR, innit.

ohhhh…i’m a Potter-head. I’d love this. Actually, I think they could make a boon with a Potter MMO if they could do it right.
