"Of course, now the enhanced edition isn’t good enough, so we’re going to get a console version that PC owners will likely have to pay for if they want to enjoy it, despite the fact that pretty much all of the content is likely going to be the same."
Yes, I agree that PC users should get a port of a PC game they already own for free. It's silly that they have to pay for it, everybody that has registered the game should get both the PS3 and 360 versions for free because they've already paid for the PC version. I think it's very selfish and greedy that the devs want us to actually pay for their game!

CDProjeckt are lovely chaps in my book and I must get around to downloading the free upgrade to The Witcher at some point too.

If they have created a new engine for the consoles then, of course, it's going to look better since the Aurora engine is, what, 6+ years old now?

Nice that the consoles will be getting it, but I've already played it, played the mods that people have made and, no doubt, I'll be playing the next witcher game when it comes to the PC with the new engine, which will put the consoles to shame.

So, nothing to see here, just someone upping their game so console players will get excited.

I could be excited about this, but I'm actually a tad worried that CDProjekt is proving to be a one trick pony.

From them, we first saw The Witcher. Then apparently that wasn't good enough, so there was an enhanced edition with a free patch. This was a good thing to do, rather than trying to get everyone who owned the game previously to buy it again, damned nice of them. Of course, now the enhanced edition isn't good enough, so we're going to get a console version that PC owners will likely have to pay for if they want to enjoy it, despite the fact that pretty much all of the content is likely going to be the same.

Another factor to consider: This is a Bioware engine game, that means it has a toolset. This, in turn, means that The Witcher will see continuation on the PC via user created modules. It's very doubtful that the console versions will be able to run these modules, or any user-made content at all. But I'd be very surprised to see that if they could wrangle it in. It'd be nice, to be honest, but I'm extremely skeptical considering the current history of mods for console games.

Eventually, this'll probably lead to The Witcher: Ultra Hyper Mega Edition (Capcom complex?) for the XBox 720, which will probably have very little new content. And meanwhile the PC users will probably be enjoying lots of user created content, some of which will match, or even better, the content of the original game (see: every game with a mod-kit).

Bottom-line: Nooo CDProjekt, don't turn into a one trick pony, that'd be a real disappointment. If you can get the console versions to run modules, then I could see the potential. But it won't, will it? So it'll just be the same game time and again, instead of trying something new. That's a great way for a development house to die and quickly be forgotten, and CDP doesn't deserve that. And yes, that is genuine concern for them. After the enhanced edition, where they gave away (for free) content they could've turned into DLC, I gained a huge amount of respect for them.

I played it on pc already but I'm damned excited to see what they could do on a console.
CDProjekt loves this game too much to mess it up.

Wait, what? This actually got confirmed? I thought it was still a rumour.

I might be up for a bit of this, potentially.

Never played the game, but looking at some videos it looks a little like Oblivion which I really enjoyed. great news that they are taking care of the transition to consoles. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
