360 at triple PS3 sales in the UK, marketing at “launch levels”
Xbox Europe boss Chris Lewis has claimed that Xbox 360 is currently outselling PS3 at almost 3:1 in the UK, and that the machine’s current European marketing push is equalling that seen when it launched three years ago.
“For us in EMEA, there’s a been a considerable uptick in what we’re spending in terms of media, almost effectively to launch levels again,” the exec told Edge.
“We’ve seen this huge uptick in our velocity, which has taken us considerably ahead, certainly of PlayStation 3, right across the region. In some geographies, the U.K. specifically, we were almost three times Sony’s volume last week, for instance.”
Lewis added: “It’s generally very good. We’re really happy with our performance. There’s a lot more still to come, of course, so there’s no complacency, but it’s great to be at this course and speed.”

Shouldn’t that be ‘at’ in the headline? Rather than ‘and’?
Edit: actually that’s not much better. What about “360 outselling PS3 3:1 in the UK” instead?

Ja, sorry. My bad.

Is this the same guy who, in last week’s “Look at how much better we are than the competition” statement said how he wasn’t obsessed with the competition?
Well, not *all* the competition, clearly.

I’m buying a 360 this weekend. On Sunday, probably.
Then the generation can officially start. You might think it’s already started, but it hasn’t. Until Sunday.

What would Xbox Live be without Blerk?

Blerk… I’m sure something will go wrong. You’re destined never to enter this gen.

You’ll be lucky if your chair stays in place. On the bright side, you’ll save some money on the heating… plus the RRoD has a lovely festive glow.

The fans are pretty bad, but its the disc-drive that’ll cause you permanent deafness.
HD Install everything you have the space for.

Or, you know, you could go for a silent-running PS3.

I probably would have if the games weren’t better on the 360. And it didn’t cost twice as much. And Sony had actually put any effort whatsoever into securing some nice exclusives. That sort of stuff.

“Or, you know, you could go for a silent-running PS3.”
No sensible consumer is to pay £250 extra for a quieter fan, when the other console has more games, more exclusives, better quality exclusives, more downloadable content, a better graphics card *and* a much more active online gaming scene.
The last one is what sold it for me. There’s online games on the PS3 which are all but dead, yet still remain moderately active on the 360. That’s especially ironic considering you have to pay to play online on the Xbox 360.
I own all the current consoles, but the average gamers doesn’t, and that’s who it matters to at the end of the day.

Woah, steady on Blerk.
You’ll get accused of being a 360 fanboy who hates the PS3 as though it ‘killed your family’ soon…
You can’t go around using legitimate points around here!

Hey Michael, I downloaded and was playing SSFIIHDR yesterday. It’s pretty difficult on normal, don’t you think?

Wow, so that means that from Sunday, owning a 360 will officially make me “cool and edgy”? Can’t wait.

They can call me what they like, it won’t make it true. I’ve traditionally been a Playstation owner. I came into this generation fully expecting to remain one. But I see no reason to do that whole “company loyalty” thing when all they’ve ever done is take my money.
Perhaps they can win me back next generation. Or maybe if they pull their fingers out I’ll buy a PS3 as well once the price is (right) down.

Yeah, I was quite surprised myself. The AI is better than I’ve ever seen in the olden-day versions. Far too smart to fall for my cheap tactics… -__-
