Thanksgiving LBP DLC puts turkey on Sackboy’s head

littlebigplaneta23.jpg

Sony’s put up details of Thanksgiving week’s LBP DLC, turkey and all.

There’s a chimera hat for your little man, in addition. Nothing could be better than this.

Full thing through the link.

This is just starting to be just plain ridiculous…

They are going to come up with this useless dlc every week until they take all your money, just to change your sackboy. hooray!

Next week he’ll have a lemon head, which will represent his game’s success at retail.

“This is just starting to be just plain ridiculous…”

Not as ridiculous as complaining about optional free DLC or optional pay-for DLC.

“..they take all your money..”

I think you actually have to choose to give it to them. They don’t take it from you without your consent.

Of course, this being the internet and there being some degree of SONY in this news I’m sure they still come over, shoot your dog, drown your kittens, steal your TV and commit all the usual sorts of heinous acts that Sony are known for.

That’ll be free DLC.

Actually most likely it wont even make it over here, making it no DLC.

Oh look, someone’s making a post about me again instead of saying anything remotely related to the article.

Browbeating? I was pointing out the ridiculous nature of parts of his comments. Didn’t you read it? No. Probably not.

Maybe it’s because you just shout at people from behind you monitor all the time, Shatner. I’m actually quite disappointed you’ve gone down the “YoU r teh bias” route. Have we had the “drunken episode” yet? It’s hard to tell.

Regardless of the pros and cons of LBP downloadable content and sales and all that…. would anyone actually want this? Even for free? Why did they even bother?

I love this.

The whole Sackboy thing is just so wonderfully abstract. As I said elsewhere, LBP is like Dada: The Game. It’s the concept of Dada packed into the confines of a game, and on so many levels it works, and it continues to work.

I hope Media molecule keeps throwing these abstract and absurd ideas at me, because I’m loving every minute of it. The only thing that would make it better is if they were to release something even more out there.

“Actually most likely it wont even make it over here, making it no DLC.”

Well, since it’s free DLC that doesn’t really matter, does it? It’s simple enough to create a US PSN account, and then to utilise the PSN store to download free content. That’s what I’ve been doing with every bit of free content that didn’t reach the admittedly shitty EU PSN store.

“[...] until they take all your money [...]”

Hmmm. Errr… Wait… what? Are you sure you bothered to research that claim there made in regards to this particular bit of content?

It may be worth considering that there’s one free piece of LittleBigPlanet DLC each week. It was Sack-in-the-Box last week, and this week it’s the Turkey head. So I’m not sure how you can claim that these free updates are costing us anything. There have been premium suits, but thanks to the fact that they’re just clothing customisation bits instead of content, I can easily ignore those. It’s not like they’re selling off levels for £6-£10 a pop.

The thing is, if you were going off about DLC that was actually unjust, then I would’ve chimed in with my support. But in this case you’re taking umbrage at DLC that doesn’t actually cost anyone anything, you’re effectively complaining about money lost on something that’s free.

Honestly, why are we praising paid content DLC now and vilifying free stuff? I don’t understand. If a developer was to show good will by offering us extra content for free post the release of the game, shouldn’t we be saying how nice of them that is? I mean…

Whhy… I… whuh… it…

And there goes my sense of rationality. I can’t fight this with reason any further, I think I’ll have to resort to anti-reason and possibly glossolalia in order to combat this.

#21

Shatner

“It’s not like they’re selling off levels for £6-£10 a pop”

Of course they’re not. That sort of DLC is made and given away completely free and growing every single hour. And will continue to grow.

But that’s too hard a concept to properly get a “EVIL” angle on so it’s best to ignore that side of things completely and just bemoan the provision of free/cheap, optional, decorative DLC instead.

Heh, using reason on the internet. It’ll never catch on Esha. Why not try posting “haha” or “fuckity fuckity fuck fuck” as a response instead?

“And there goes my sense of rationality. I can’t fight this with reason any further, I think I’ll have to resort to anti-reason and possibly glossolalia in order to combat this.”

*hands Esha a sedative* It’s okay, the world is still round. *laughs*

Agreed with everything you said, BTW. I couldn’t have put it better myself. Well… I could have, but you already did. =P

“Maybe it’s because you just shout at people from behind you monitor all the time, Shatner. I’m actually quite disappointed you’ve gone down the “YoU r teh bias” route. Have we had the “drunken episode” yet? It’s hard to tell.”

Then… ban him?

“Thanks for putting words into my mouth pat. It’s not like you to distort or misquote what someone says.”

He didn’t misquote jack shit. He simply pointed out your behaviour, you delusional toon. The only person who think you’re *not* acting that way is you.

Blind? I made it perfectly clear what I was criticising and substantiated it. Oh. Shit. That doesn’t help your side of the argument does it? Best pretend it was blind and without reason.

Or is blindly criticising stuff not allowed any more? Seemed like it was positively encouraged and practiced by all around here.

Michael O’Conner, I recall you advising others to “just ignore him” and yet you’re incapable of following your own advice or listening to pat’s credo around here.

Still, what’s freedom of speech if it’s not used to silence others.

Still, way to go guys, let’s rename this site “Shatner247″ seeing as hardly any of you want to talk about anything other than me. Maybe pat can pay me some commission too.

How about it pat?

Not the worst idea. We should have an “Bait the Shat” column once a month. You can have 50% of all revenue from the ads served on it. Deal?

#27

DrDamn
26/11/08, 8:59 am

They have produced DLC for LBP every week and I believe they have committed to doing so for a while. Some of the DLC is always free. Supporting your game and adding new stuff for free every single week is obviously a terrible thing to do.

I think given it is a Thanksgiving thing then maybe it is more a reference to Friends rather than Mr Bean.

Michael O'Connor

I can’t recall the exact term Shat, but there’s a common habit that a lot of people use whereby they try to defer away from everything that someone to try and “win” an argument instead of actually tackling the point made.

Whilst there’s plenty of fanboys on the internet who fall in that bad habit when it comes to discussing gaming, you make it an artform outside of the context of video games.

You remind me a bit of my ex-girlfriend, good riddance to her. *laughs* A spoilt child who’d rather reference passing statements from months ago and beat them into the ground, instead of actually discussing the points made to you.

You two would make a good couple. <3

“Not the worst idea. We should have an “Bait the Shat” column once a month. You can have 50% of all revenue from the ads served on it. Deal?”

I quite like this idea. I can picture the first column already.

“Bait the Shat Episode 1 – Why Space Giraffe is shit”

“They have produced DLC for LBP every week and I believe they have committed to doing so for a while. Some of the DLC is always free.”

I think it’s every week for at least a year.

That’s… a lot of hats.

Oh MoC, you’re so funny. You can’t see the wood for your Anti-Shatner trees.

I, like Esha, denounced ridiculous comments using something called reason. Now, depending on how much of your life you spend on the internet, this ‘reason’ thing might be something quite alien to you and you may either fear it or simply decide it has no place in an appraisal of the movements of a videogame company. Especially when it’s far trendier to just bleat with the rest of the herd and complain at people offering you optional free stuff.

In fact, it’s far better to steer well clear of reason and just be contrary using such much more reliable internet tactics as dismissal, name-calling and character assassination. So far, you’re three for three.

Oh dear. It looks like other folk have also used this ‘reason’ thing in some of their response too. Clearly this deplorable behaviour must be spreading. Quick, better ask pat to ban them too!

And one again, you defer from everyone said to blow your own horn.

“I, like Esha, denounced ridiculous comments using something called reason.”

No see, Esha doesn’t feel the need to shit over everyone with a different opinion. Esha *does* use reason. And Esha doesn’t act like (note the words “act likes”, not “thinks”) anyone with a different opinion is stain on the glorious boot of Shatner.

Nobody’s bleating with the fucking sheep, you delusional moron. There’s plenty of debate on here where people disagree about the topic, but we don’t get all haughty taughty every time someone farts, like your fine self. <3

Hey Mikey, do you EVER talk about the topic you wage wars in or are you just obsessed with (not ignoring) me.

You do realise every single reply you make to me just turns you into a bigger and bigger hypocrite, right?

Still, keep with the name calling. It’s really big and clever!

Poor old befuddled Mikey. Esha and I both used reason. Your appraisal, unfortunately, is subject to bias and discrimination because you’ve clearly got such a bee in your pretty bonnet about me you simply can’t tolerate anything I might say regardless of how much reason or common sense it may contain. If I say it, it simply MUST be nonsensical. If I say black is black then it MUST be white! I think I’ll add “discrimination” to your expanding and impressive list of internet achievments. Next one on the list is the “Straw Man” acheivement. It’s worth 100 points but I’m sure you’ll bag it!

Remember kids: name calling and swearing automatically make you RIGHT. So do it today!

PS: Mikey, feel free to talk comment on the article any time you feel like it instead of endlessly spewing vitriol and insults in my direction. I’d hate to see people think you only entered this conversation to rant at someone. Apparently that’s TERRIBLE behaviour. Some people even ask for those who practice it to be banned from commenting. Imagine!

Might want to actually read my replies, numbnut, and notice the bit replying to the topic at hand, before you make yet another cheap statement in a feeble attempt at undermining people to fatten your cock that little be more.

The difference? I’m attacking you, *one* person, because of your deplorably archaic stupidity and delusional superiority complex. You, on the other hand, have consistently attacked countless people on here since the day you appeared, just to make your e-peen feel big… and I don’t think there’s a single person here who will disagree on that point.

Keep clutching at those straws morriss, one day one of your guesses might hit paydirt :)

By the way, the poster “Shatner” has never ever called anyone a cunt. He has, on the other hand, often recieved that insult from others (usually after they’ve tried to suggest that aggression and name-calling are bad form).

I just thought it was worth mentioning as it’s a good demonstration of just how poor morriss’ observational skills are and how consistently inaccurate his claims are.

Oh, pat, you have my email address. If we’re going to be doing business I’d first of all like a copy of videogaming247 Ltd.’s privacy policy. I have a horrible suspicion that some of your staff would be prepared to misuse personal information acquired by your site when they felt like it.

You’re rubbish at ignoring posters Michael. Especially those that you’re obsessed with.

Anyway, I help Psychotext execute his own “ignore” solution. I’m sure if you speak to him (perhaps call him a few names and swear at him too, you know, just for good measure) he’ll help you out.

I’d offer to help you out myself but you’d probably rant at my assistance as some sort of internet bullying (ho ho) and demand for me to be banned. Reasonable sort of chap that you are.
