yep. It’s because gamesaves aren’t linked to your PSN account like Gamertags.

It’s to stop people from cheating and just copying friends’ completed game files onto their machines, innit. Warhawk had retroactive trophies, but that’s because all the save stats are held on their remote server, so what you’d earned really was what you earned and not somebody else’s hard work.

It’s obviously technically possible to some extent. Although it depends on what’s stored in the save file. Some achievements may be based on stuff not actually saved in the old version files.
