GamesRadar’s been renamed TombRadar for today as a marketing thing to celebrate the release of Tomb Raider: Underworld.
“Tomb Raider: Underworld is a great game, well worth the 9/10 scores it is picking up across gaming websites and magazines,” said James Binns, Future’s publishing director.
“Getting the message out there on launch day is essential in the games market and this takeover gives Eidos unprecedented cut through.”
The game, however, appears to have only received two 9s, one at “ConsoleMonster” and one at Future’s PC Gamer, as seen there on TombRadar.com.
It has a MetaCritic average of 78 percent.
Just saying.

Bit cheeky lads, I mean, I’ve read EG reviews with EG adverts about the game all over the site at the same time….
I’m not saying it’s the same, just saying.

Just a statement of fact. It’s not getting 9s all over the place, is it?
Egon said:
Haha! No, it’s not. Check out Guy Cocker from Gamespot’s Twitter feed – he says “guycocker call from Eidos–if you’re planning on reviewing Tomb Raider Underworld at less than an 8.0, we need you to hold your review till Monday.”

You got a link, Egon?

I agree. That’s quite shocking, and ought to be written up, proper, with its own headline and everything. Gamespot still hasn’t published its review of the game either – I muddied my feet earlier over there, to check.

Here’s one I found on google. It’ll be interesting to see what they do.

Direct link to the individual comment.

Sorry, yeah, it’s just on his normal Twitter feed. Surprised it hadn’t been picked up on before. Not that it’s an unusual tactic over there, I distinctly remember similar calls going round the magazines with other games…

Well, with takeovers featuring as prominently as they do nowadays, the change in masthead was the following logical step. A frightening one, at least for me…

I’ve just spoken to the PR firm. I’ll do a story now.

What’s the headline going to be?
“EIDOS ARE A BUNCH OF C*NTS”
Hardly ‘news’ now is it?

People do need to be told though, just to emphasis the point.
