National Geographic to publish Afrika in the US?

afrikaa.jpg

According to this PS3F story, National Geographic has picked up the rights to Afrika and is to publish the game in America until the title National Geographic: Africa.

Not sure where this came from originally, but we know at least one person who’ll probably piss his pants at this.

When National Geographic announced their gamestudio, they also mentioned they’d publish titles like National Geographic Panda en National Geographic: Africa (and I saw it specifically mentioned Sony)

If they do and they actually make it region-free, then this may be the first import I’ve bought in a long while.

I want this game. You all know how I am about how we seem to be swamped with unimaginative pap, with little to offset it. I’m hoping that publishers hang onto their belief that the Western audience is suited to things that aren’t template-based puzzle games or men-with-guns long enough for this to be released.

This really, really needs a Western release. If I could read Japanese, I’d have it already. I’m going to have to add that to my skillset, eventually.

All PS3 games are region free so this would be if it were released. DLC may or may not work, but the game itself will do.

Download only apparently. Won’t be a boxed product.

“NGG also announced it has partnered with Namco Bandai Games America and Sony Computer Entertainment to publish and distribute GLOBALLY National Geographic-branded titles on major gaming consoles and handheld devices, including the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS handheld, PlayStation 3 and PS3 Network, PCs and mobile devices such as the iPhone. ”

    (I capitalised that word ;) ) :D

Hope so. Looks about a million times more interesting than Far Cry (I’m the most woefully misjudged video game since Custers Revenge) 2.
