The New Xbox Experience goes live
The New Xbox Experience is now live and available to download. You are now living the “biggest moment in the history of the internet.”
The UI’s release marks the end of an epic journey of hyping and media bombardment since E3 this year, and heralds, according to Microsoft, a “new era of entertainment.”
Xbox boss Shane Kim said yesterday that NXE is “a big part of [Live’s] transformation from a multiplayer matchmaking service to a social and entertainment network.”
For all the official information on what NXE means for you and your 360, hit this for details on Parties, Netflix HD streaming (if you’re American), Avatars, the UI’s functional structure and tons more.

I can’t say I’m impressed. It’s really cumbersome. And the avatars are really lacking in flexibility.
I think most people will be using the mini-blades thing once the novelty wears off.

Do you honestly think its more cumbersome than the old system? I find that very surprising if you do.

My main issue initially was not knowing where anything was.

What were you expecting? The greatest evolution in media entertainment since the advent of the television..? *chuckles*
Certainly won’t call it cumbersome though. It’s a bit of a re-adjustment after being hot-wired to the blade layout for so long, but it’s a *hell* of a lot easier to find stuff, especially on the marketplace.
Gamertag is ” Words of Ivory ” for anyone who cares.

Can you actually launch a game you have on your HDD in less than 7 button presses now?

Button presses or actions? Because you still obviously have to move the controller left / right etc.

Yes. You just go to your profile and click the game.
If its not in recently played, you just scroll over one menu and select it from there.

I don’t think it’s quicker or easier to find stuff. The animations are smoother but there’s generally less information on screen and lists show like 4 times (your friends list is useless now).
I do think the blades were getting in a bit of a state but I think that was down to poor organization rather than the concept being flawed.

The new friends list is definitely useless. Needs sorting options.

Looks cute!
First thought you meant “old-kid show” instead of “old kid-show”. That would have been very correct …
