It’s clean, healthy, young, groovy guys ‘n’ gals relaxing on a Friday evening before they hit the latest disco at the country club.

What’s the problem?

Marcus put the lightmass bomb in the wrong place.

Although I’m inclined to agree, your statement intimates Lord Fenix has erred, which is impossible.

Strange that these people have only oddly-coloured lights in their living room.

Oh, and the damn banner ad for Shaun White’s Snowboarding and Endwar that appears everytime I load a page on VG247? It makes me not want to come back.

*Agrees with above people about ads/banners*

On topic though, I feel sorry for the people in this video. Are they seriously thinking of acting seriously some point later in life?

And I Still don’t see how you can sing to your own songs

I feel Worldly now because I’ve been to a karaoke night, that’s just not right. This ad really isn’t all that different to what one might see at a karaoke outing, except that the audience is perhaps a tad more enthusiastic. And they’re not hurling things at the singer, be they criticisms or material objects.

Anyway, I don’t have any desire to play this game, but I do have this bizarre urge to install a disco ball in my living room, now. Was that the point of the ad?

And…

“i have to say vg, stop with your gay ads. and seriosly a banjo wallpaper, im bout to remove my bookmark. so gay.”

This is the kind of nonsense that kicks in my contrarian side, so I still say the ads stay.

Honestly, do the uncoof yoof still say “gay” these days? It’s a bit unimaginative, isn’t it? I do appreciate the delicious irony, though. I’d imagine Banjo Kazooie to be a most jolly game, to take the dictionary definition to heart. So why is it bad that the ads are simply being what they’re supposed to be?

Of course, said yoof is probably using it as a base derogative regarding homosexuality. In which case I miss the days where the Internet was simply too complex for those little urchins to wrap their heads around.

So yes, do keep the ads, and if they scare away the weak-minded undesirables? All the better.

I had a bookshelf like that. Split it down the middle and put it on the wall. Best thing I ever did.

It’s not the Banjo thing that bothers me, it’s the floating banner that moves as you scroll the page, it’s terribly annoying and makes me want to kill a kitten. Oh, FYI, ‘Gay = homosexual’ is in the dictionary. I don’t use it, homophobia is gay, and I’m not the posterboy for heterosexualness. Just ask my girlfriend.

I also feel sorry for the people in the video. Whilst I’m sure it was fun to make, they still look like morons and they still make me want to hurt them, possibly using the mic.

FUCK OFF SHAUN WHITE! I won’t block ads as I know it’s those that keeps the site going… but that goofy dandruff skater is fucking me right off.

There is floating banner? I can’t even see with the ad-blocker disabled. :

@Syrok

What web browser/firewall do you use since you can’t see it?
I’ll consider any possibility to remove that damned thing, it’s annoying me. :)

I usually don’t block ads on here. But if someone pees in my face I WILL open my umbrella.

What disappeared? The banner? No, it’s still there. See, Pat, I’m happy to let you advertise in non-intrusive ways, but this banner has forced me to find Adblock. I hope you’re happy.

@Gamoc
The new banner is gone for me now, but I did update my firewall just now, so that might have been the reason.

Take out the first two minutes twenty seconds, and leave in the bit with the girl messing up the song but still laughing at it.

That’s about the only part of it that seems even remotely realistic, fun, real, or down to earth.

In this day and age the average consumer is far too well aware to be caught over by these kinda vague attempts at being hip. Nintendo took some videos of real people trying out Wii Fit in a shopping mall, and look how that sold!

The smartest thing they could do is actually test this out in the karaoke scene and see how people react to it, and makes some advertising out of it.

As for the ads, if you’re that bothered by them, just use the ad blocker and stop whining. It takes about five seconds to do.

that logic is so flawed. so because i have anti-virus, suddenly I should be cool with the people that make viruses? vg is now promoting annoying advertisements, and im not cool with it. embed it in the site in a creative manner by all means, have it off to the side or something and give me the choice to help you by clicking on it. dont make it follow me down the damn webpage. friggin michael o’conner.

Agreed, Lelik. Creative embedding is the way to go.

While the site’s still relatively small, it’s important we take on as much advertising as possible in order to grow. That top ad should be fixed in place today, which will make it less annoying. Sorry: you’ve just got to bear with us on this stuff for a bit.

I once made a banner that was so good that one site asked if they could keep hosting it even after the company stopped paying for it. It’s still there. Over a year later.

What I’m trying to say is that there are different ways of advertising. I completely understand that you need banners. But as I said, if you piss in my face I will do something about it.

The site with the banner in question Got a Clio for it and everything. Damn I’m good.

Banner is fixed… still annoying though. Ubisoft off my Christmas card list.

Mind you Pat, I have to say that the NXE site takeover you had last week was gorgeous. Classy and sophisticated… and above all, subtle. It suited the feel of site… more please :D

ps, sorry for telling Mr White to F off. Not very nice. Bad day :)

pps… banner fixed… just don’t scroll up :D
