According to this MCV story, FIFA 09 has broken the 1 million sales barrier in the UK after only five weeks on sale.

“We are delighted with the success of FIFA 09,” said Dan Holman, marketing manager for EA Sports.

“We have continued to listen to gamers and football fans and the result has been the fastest-selling FIFA game in franchise history.

“To sell in excess of one million copies in five weeks, beating our previous best by one month is incredible and the development team at EA Canada deserves a lot of credit for delivering the best football game ever.”

The news means the franchise has now sold more than 10 million units in Britain in the past five years.

Cheers for that. Looks as though it’s gone crazy for FIFA this year. Christmas number one wouldn’t surprise me.
