I didn’t think that game was bad at all (but not great either) and so may rent Sonic Unleashed after this busy gaming period, and I do hope it is a return to form.

Same here, but I think he’s being a bit hard on the franchise, there have been a few diamonds in the rough, even recently.

Sonic Rush was nifty, and a return to form. The Dark Brotherhood was above average as an RPG (and probably one of the DS’s best), and really quite charming. And finally, the Secret Rings was fun to mess around with, even if I did have some trouble getting used to the controls at first.

There was a dark period for Sonic, somewhere between Sonic Adventure 2 and Secret Rings, where the likes of Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog could rear their ugly mugs. But the franchise has been getting better.

I really hope they do show everyone though that Sonic is still capable of a truly great game. Sonic Adventure did that, and it’s still a pinnacle of 3D platform gaming, to which others aspire.

A completely reasonable opinion, that is, and presented so well and cleanly too! I wholly appreciated the bulleted points detailing the various facets of your argument, and the well-researched documentation of the flaws of the Sonic series of games; past and present. I have to praise you as a rational individual, of which there are too few. It was an enlightening read, eye-opening even. Why, even I myself am beginning to doubt whether I ever actually liked Sonic or not!

Sarcasm aside, wasn’t that a bit of a “Yo Mama!” as far as criticism is concerned? Are we really stooping that low, now? I expect better! At least from this place. I disagree with the opinions I see here often, this I know, but at least those opinions are usually intelligent.
