    “Ultra Super Deluxe”

    How modest!

  2. Blerk said:

Translation: It’s the same game you played years ago. Again.

Farewell, LBP, we hardly knew ya! And good riddance Wii Music.

Will be interesting to see how hardware copes this week. PS3 theoretically should be on the way down again (new hardware blip over), and 360 theoretically should be on the way up again (new bundles this week, Last Remnant next week).

  3. Tonka said:

It will be even more interesting to see how Miyamoto handles this monumental ownage.

  4. Psychotext said:

It’s just a guess Tonka, but I’d wager he goes and buys another ivory back scratcher to ease his pain. Perhaps before going to his platinum coated yacht and snorting platinum coated coke off a platinum coated hooker.

  5. G1GAHURTZ said:

‘Just wait til LBP comes out! You’ll see! It’ll be the real system seller that kick starts PS3 sales.

    Just you wait and see!’

    LOL!

  6. Shatner said:

Who are you quoting there G1Glygoo?

  7. Blerk said:

It’s worth listening to this week’s 1Up Yours podcast purely for John Davison’s Wii Music rant, where he claims it to be ‘fucking garbage’ and that Miyamoto has ‘jumped the shark’. :-D

  8. G1GAHURTZ said:

    I dunno, I can’t remember who it was…

Some geezer who was on here before LBP came out.

I can’t be bothered to look for the actual post.

Anyway, I think it goes for a whole load of PS3 fanboys who were saying the same thing.

  9. GordonR said:

    “10. [PS3] LittleBigPlanet (SCE) 17,000 / 69,000″

Get ready for another UK: Resistance joygasm.

    That is shite, though…

  10. Psychotext said:

I don’t know why anyone is particularly surprised by LBP’s performance in Japan. It was always going to be a tough sell, no matter what the hype was saying.

  11. Shatner said:

Fair enough G1Gster. Amateur market analysts are usually very wide of the mark. Especially those that post their predictions on the internet.

    BAM!

  12. Psychotext said:

Funny you should say that Shatner… it’s generally the pros who are furthest from the truth.

  13. Shatner said:

When someone’s wrong, they’re wrong. Varying degrees of wrongness doesn’t make someone any more right! Just as two wrongs don’t make a right.

    Fractured logic there Psycho!

  14. Tonka said:

Regarding Miyamoto and ivory back scratchers. I don’t think he can let this pass unnoticed. Nintendo has been very focused on expanding markets and yadda yadda yadda.

If Wii Music really flops (still too early to tell) I’m sure they will sit down and do some road map or what ever.

  15. Tonka said:

One estimate can be better than another though can it not Shatner?

  16. To be fair, LBP desrves more then that, really (No matter what G1G or Moriss says), it really is simply innovation in a cup.

  17. Psychotext said:

Define wrong Shatner. With numerical based predictions you’re always going to be dealing with percentages of accuracy. Thus “furthest from the truth”.

You really do seem to be struggling with your arguing technique over the last few days. Are you working too hard or something like that?

  18. Shatner said:

If you make a prediction and it’s not the same as the result then your prediction is wrong.

I predict it’s going to rain on Friday. If it doesn’t rain on Friday my prediction is wrong.

Sure, I can squirm around saying that my prediction didn’t state WHERE it was going to rain or that RAIN actually meant “dew” as well. But, on the whole, it’d be infinitely more wrong than right.

Then again, I wouldn’t do that and I certainly wouldn’t try to backpeddle all over it with semantics to try and make it look like “wrong” was actually “right” either. That’s just going to put more egg on the face of whoever was wrong anyway.

Dear me, at the end of the day “wrong” is still “wrong”. At least “professional” analysts get paid to be wrong instead of doing it for free!

“You really do seem to be struggling with your arguing technique over the last few days.”

    WRONG!
    :D

  19. Psychotext said:

I see. That’s about the level of pedantry I’ve come to expect from you. My predictions are always right in that area at least.

It’s funny really. For someone who chides others for trying to win points on the internet you seem to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to do just that. God forbid you should appear wrong, ever… but no worries, you’ll just argue until the other party tires and gives up.

/awaits inevitable post about how you’re just trying to educate others in a way that only you can and how what you’re doing is not actually point winning or trying desperately not to appear wrong on any subject

(the beauty of this is that Shatner posts and I’m right about arguing until the other person gives up… or he doesn’t and the board gets a brief respite! :) )

  20. G1GAHURTZ said:

“To be fair, LBP desrves more then that”

If it was on the Wii it would probably have sold a bajillion more units by now.

  21. Shatner said:

“I see. That’s about the level of pedantry I’ve come to expect from you.”

Amusing statement, considering your recent semantic-based arguments on matters like xbox/xbox360.

And, yes, “inevitable” posts are inevitable when you directly address someone they “inevitably” reply. Amazing bit of prediction there. You mastery of the obvious is truly amazing! Good show!!

Still, considering I never directly address you with my comment on predictions and you’ve leaped into the fray defending your behaviour, I’d say you’re feeling guilty about something. Best defense is an attack, right? :D

  22. morriss said:

“(No matter what G1G or Moriss says)”

    What did morriss say?

  23. G1GAHURTZ said:

    Yeah, what did moris say??

  24. Psychotext said:

Keep arguing Shatner, you prove my point more with every post. I can deal with being wrong, I often am… but can you?

  25. Shatner said:

When I’m wrong, I’ll let you know. Until that day happens, I can’t say.
    :D

  26. morriss said:

I usually go with consensus reality myself.

  27. Esha said:

I’d love to see this quoted post of Giggy’s, otherwise I’m just putting this down to his usual Xhat propagandist nature. I’m a fan of the PS3 (and the PC, and I like the XBox 360 too, but I’d like that one more if Gigs and CliffyB would stop whoring), but even I pointed out before the fact that LBP wouldn’t do well in Japan.

That’s the difference between myself and old Gigglypoops though, I’m not so much of a fanboy that I can’t admit that failings of something so that I only go after the opposing side. I’ve criticised Sony when they’ve deserved it, but Gigs is just like an XBox advertising bot.

And it’s people like Gigs who’re making me despise the XBox, tbh.

  28. morriss said:

You let the opinion of someone you’ve never met cloud your opinion on whether you like to play games on a console?

Each to their own, I guess.

Sensational story. But quite explainable – it’s the lull before a new SKU is released… Why would anyone want to drop cash on a PS3 now when in a few weeks or so the new 80gb model bundled with 2 pads and LBP are out? Plus of course the 160gb model also due this month.

If anyone should be worried it surely should be Microsoft… They’ve dropped the price of their machine so low even tramps in the street can afford to buy one, yet their sales are only a few thousand more than PS3 worldwide even with the new SKU lull.

I’d wait a few more weeks for LBP’s release with the new SKU’s before sounding the PS3’s death knell.

    Thanks g00nerz!

  30. G1GAHURTZ said:

Wait a minute Esha, can you find me some quotes of mine that praise the 360!?

I don’t know how you can hate the 360 because of me, when I hardly ever mention anything about it.

  31. Blerk said:

To be fair to g00nerz, sales of the PS3 did increase significantly in LBP week. Although possibly not due to LBP.

  32. No_PUDding said:

Anyone who said LittleBigPlanet would be the next GTA I know a few guilties) were stupid.

And not only is it simply becuase it’s the wrong type of game, it’s alos becuase Sony market nothing. Either that or they market Third party things.

They are just abysmal at it.

Seen no Gears 2 adverts, but I ahve seen a Fable 2 ad on UK terrestial TV.

The only PS3 excsluvie ads (as in the adverts were exclsuive) is a slurry of Mirror’s Edge ones, and SmackDown.

  33. Psychotext said:

I saw a Mirror’s Edge ad the other day. Was quite eye catching.

  34. Nugent said:

You know, g00nerz post isn’t actually saying that LBP was going to be a huge system seller. He’s trying to explain the drop in PS3 sales the weeks before the LBP SKUs were introduced. If you look at the weekly PS3 sales in Japan they were hovering around 5-6k per week, then dropped to around 3-4k the weeks before the new SKUs. Then a bunch of new PS3 SKUs were released, along with GTA4 and LBP as well, and PS3 sales jumped to around 40k.

So the sales info we have support what g00nerz is saying, although there’s no way for us to know whether the jump in sales was due to LBP, GTA4, or the new SKUs (although its probably a combination of all three).
