"Yes, it’s all about EA being evil, that’s why i’ve already praised them in the thread."

Then I'm really not sure what the fuss is about.

"Obviously it's both sides fault. EA evidently shouldn't take advantage…or would it also be ok if an adult wanted sex with a minor? "Oh it’s ok, she was gagging for it!"

How are they "taking advantage" of anyone? "Taking advantage" of a customer would be something like demanding payments for software upgrades.

It's clearly labelled content. Nobody is being forced into getting it, and it's always the place of the consumer to make an informed decision before they hand over money.

I really don't see the comparision between some clearly labelled content and having sex with a minor...

"The size of these current downloads, you’re yet to see, right?"

Right, but there's some Dead Space DLC already up there, and it's of equivelant. One of them in even free. Its not an approach Electronic Arts has taken in the past either, except for the short lived "paid cheats" they had a few years back.

Take advantage? It's entirely the responsibility of the individual whether they purchase it or not. Comparisons to statutory rape boggle my mind.

If EA want to offer shit downloads then that's their right. No one has to buy them. If someone wants to, then that's their right too. Has no one considered that maybe those who buy these things actually want them? That they consider them good value? Or do people actually believe that everyone is duped?

I fail to see why EA should be condemned for offering a product and why the purchasers should be condemned for buying it.

P.S. Sonic was never cool.

"You have nothing yet to prove that this sort of stuff isn’t already on the disc though?"

The size of the download tend to be a very good indication.

200KB file = definately on the disc.
20MB file = definately not on the disc.

Based on the size of the downloadable content for the game so far, it's obvious this data isn't on the disc. If it was, the hacking community would have definately made it known by now.

"I’ve no problem with DLC in general, obviously you don’t have to buy it, but it’s still taking advantage of those gullible enough to buy it. There’s the problem."

Taking advantage of those gullible enough?

Surely that's the fault of a gullible consumer? It quite clearly states what the content is. If you like what it offers, you'll buy it. If you don't, you won't. It's completely optional, and the game is already extremely polished and certainly complete without it.

Considering that Electronic Arts have done nothing but bring out ground-breaking game after ground-breaking game for the last year straight, I'm not going to complain.

"E.A. is evil" is about as outdated an attitude as "Sonic is cool".

"That’s a hell of a lot better than what Namco does, whereby their deliberately lock out entire parts of their game from the end users."

"Now they show their real face again."

By offering OPTIONAL downloads you don't have to purchase?

That's a hell of a lot better than what Namco does, whereby their deliberately lock out entire parts of their game from the end users. These are just a bunch of fun reskins you don't *have* to buy.

How the hell does a bunch of reskins for a game "show their real face again"? They've had a game out for the last year which has had four *completely free* and very large updates to it. You might have heard of it. It's called Burnout Paradise.

Yes, this is the same old EA. They never really changed.

Fact is: They had a real bad public image and needed to rectify their reputation.
They managed to do that quite successfully (albeit stocks suffered). Now they show their real face again.

Yeah that's pretty horrific.

I've bigged EA up pretty solidly this year. This and Mirror's Edge are quality, and it really seemed like they were turning a corner...and then they go and throw this out there and you realise it's just the same old EA!

No thanks.

Great game though. New weapons would be nice, but a new skin and a tweak of stats doesn't do much for me.

As pricey as this is, it all pales in comparison to having the option for repairing your car in NFS ProStreet for 60 points a pop.

I wonder if anyone was stupid enough to pay for it... :) Or the game...(I got it as a christmas pressie, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Jesus wept. The worst part of this is not that they're having a tilt at getting people to buy this crap... it's that people WILL buy this crap. :(

Blerk's got a point, thats solid cash they're asking us to put down just to stick some frilly bits on already existing stuff, the game is damn good (dare i say one of the best i've played this gen), but is having a new color for your rig really going to want to make you replay the game? Give us new weapons, or extra modes and i'll be more then happy to fork out cash.

EA obviously has lost a lot of money in the credit crunch if they expect people to pay so much for so little.
