Gears of War 2 launches worldwide
Gears of War 2 is launching as we type, ending a journey that started with Cliff Bleszinski walking onto the GDC stage in February with a plastic gun.
Midnight events have been taking place all over the States and Europe overnight, so keep watching for reports from the frontline. Here’s the first one, from a Gamestop in Connecticut. Men, queues, hoods: it’s like the good old days relived.
Bleszinski himself is at the LA launch, which is happening right now.
We couldn’t get to the London event last night because Mike lives in Denmark, Nathan lives in Texas and Pat’s wife is so full of babies she may actually explode soon.
Good luck with the game, Epic. We’ll bring you more pictures of men in queues as they happen.

GHz – My 1 rep max is 90kg. I busted up both my collar bones when I was a kid though so I’ve never been able to bench that much. I’m more of a leg power kinda guy.
…this is how it starts indeed. lol

@ PT
I’m mostly working on my upper body atm.
I do 10 reps at 100kg easily enough, although the plan is to keep adding weight until I’m doing 160kgs with ease.
I’m not Ronnie Coleman sized yet, but I’m getting there!

I’d be stunned if Gears didn’t beat LBP in the UK chart, but then I think this time next year, LBP will still be selling at a nice rate, whilst Gears will have done pretty much all it’s going to do in it’s first two months of sale.
I should have both landing on my door mat for Monday

I think morriss is the one in front.
I think it’s Cliff standing behind him.
That pic, in the context of GoW2 and this site brings a smile to my face.

LBP will be steam rollered, I had no fuckign clue when it was out, I just popped down to Woolies and grabbed it, not knowing an actual fuckign release date, what a mess.
That added to the fact even with a firm release date, gay butch men > artistic pansy cloth men.
Unless it caught the mainstream attention, in which case it would steam roller Gears, I just don’t LBP will sell that well in all honesty.

You could do a Gears of War tribute in LBP. With angry little sack men in armour giving each other manly hugs.

Hahah, hey, it’s not like I pick up cider on special offers there, or anything. Pat’s the one who says ‘innit’! And apparently his wife is full of children. He sounds like a chav. The wine he drinks is probably from Tescos!
*me thinks the Patlike fallacy was sufficient, goes back to drinking cider*
And Blerk, I do not know what to say to that. I think I slightly upset it took that long for soemone to actually say something vulgar.

The God of War level has you killing children and making sacrifices. It adds a suficient amount of distastefulness.
And in the final game you cal make yourself look like a Helghast, they ARE pretty badass.

Gears 2 is even popular in Japan…
http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/1219576_1124.html (Copy / Paste… clicking doesn’t work for some reason)
Apparently the text says that at one point there were 120 queuing. Oddly enough, that’s for the import version – there isn’t an official release there yet.

There isn’t going to be one either. They already said that they’re not releasing it in Japan or Germany.

Fuckin A!!!!!
Beat Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia at the weekend. Best Castlevania game since the second GBA one. Really good stuff and pretty damn hard as CV games go. Lots of unlockables and crazy-hard areas to explore even now. Recommended for when people want a game that requires skill and dexterity to play. KnowwhatImean?

No, not really.
No_PUD: It’s basically everything you want it to be. Different type of enemies, that now force you to think and pick your target as not only is their wave after wave of Locust with different capabilities, they attack from all sides now, meaning cover is only temporary.
The graphics are superb, as ever, the lighting really makes a difference. The level design is interesting and suitably varied ensuring you’re never bored: the Abandoned Outpost level is fucking amazing.
The weapons are excellently weighted and balanced and the story, for the most part, is “good.”
Just get it, basically. Amazing game. Can’t wait to try Horde and multiplayer as soon as I’m done with the campaign.
With this and the awesome Left 4 Dead, consider yourself spoiled for choice.

I grabbed this on the weekend and I’m surprised at how much better it is than the first game. Everything feels so much more epic in scale and whilst the story isn’t Shakespeare it does do the job. I wouldn’t have considered playing the original single player (It wasn’t particularly compelling outside of co-op), but I’m having a lot of fun with this one.
There is one section that has disappointed me (considerably), but I’ve largely forgotten about it now as the levels after it were so good.
