DSi launches in Japan, very few people queue to get one

dsi12.jpg

Kotaku’s posted a report on the launch of DSi in Japan, and it doesn’t look like the most inspiring thing in the world.

Basically, some shops had sold out thanks to pre-orders and there were some small queues. There’s plenty of pictures over there to fill you in.

did they expect a huge turn out though ?

The ds lite was noticeably different to the first version. Looked cooler smaller and felt nicer to hold. This version is hardly any different to the lite apart from some hardware additions. It definitely wont sell as many as the DS lite till they drop production of the lite.

Didn’t the PSP-3000 sell big? Even less of a change there.

I think Nintendo will have to work hard to reach their goal of one DS per person. The PSP still have thousands of gamers to sell to. The DS needs to get the attention of those who weren’t even interested in the DS. (if that makes sense)

Looks like the initial shipment of 200k has sold out within 4 days.

Another monster on their hands.

I’m going to wait for the MC figures before doing a story. It’s just Famitsu estimates so far, right?

Yeah, we’ll see the full estimates today… but I believe Nintendo has some PR floating around for it as well.
