MS announces $99 Arcade upgrade pack
Microsoft’s announced a $99 pack to help 360 Arcade users out of the dark ages and into the connected light.
The bundle contains a 60Gb hard drive, a headset, an ethernet cable and a three-month Live sub.
There doesn’t seem to be any date on this yet, from the few reports we’ve seen this morning, but as soon as we see a press release you’ll be the first to know.
No confirmation for Europe, seemingly.

They should just cancel the whole Arcade SKU. We can SonyLOL all we want but MS’ decision of not including a HDD as standard is just as stupid and laughable as the worst mistakes from Sony this gen.

It won’t make a difference if they cancel it, because there are still people with Arcade 360s out there.
As long as there are, then MS will feel obliged to make sure that games are developed with this in mind.
Anyway, the Arcade makes total business sense as it’s a stepping stone to the more expensive unit.
You might laugh, but it’s MS who’ll probably be doing the laughing when 50% of the people who get a 360 at $199, not intending to spend any more than that, get this upgrade pack over the next few months.

I quite like the arcade since if (once?) your 360 breakes you can always buy an arcade, bung your hd in it and then use the refurbished one as a backup or trade it in. My second one just died on me and thus I am contemplating this right now…
