OXM gives Gears of War 2 9/10

the_hollow.jpg

Blimey. You should never assume, clearly. The UK OXM’s given Gears of War 2 9/10, a score likely to raise some eyebrows.

The review’s out in today’s edition, so off you go and have a look.

Or you could just wait until someone inevitably scans it, obviously.

More through the link.

Not 10 though, is it? ;)

What did they give the first one?

Edit: To answer my own question, they gave that a 9 too.

They gave Fable 2 an 8… so not sure what to make of this.

Blerk – Ah, yes. You’re right. I remember now. I thought they’d given it 10.

The EG score will be interesting.

There does appear to be a sudden outbreak of honesty in the official rags this week. PS3 mags saying the 360 versions of games are better, now Xbox mags saying that major releases aren’t quite the second coming. What is the world coming to?

It’s a threat, Blerk.

What they’re really saying is “Christmas is coming and we want EXTRA special freebies and incentives or we’ll not bump the scores up like we usually do. You have a month. Clock’s ticking”

that’s surprising.

Were people really expecting this to get a 10? And when did 9 become a bad score?

Apparently, G1Ggsy is shocked it didn’t get a 10.

Oh, and 9 has been shit ever since a first party Sony game got awarded a 9/10. DUH.

I’m looking forward to seeing a fat pat and morriss after having ‘eaten everything’ though.

At the end of the day, does the fact that the official mag didn’t necessary give it the expected score affect anyone’s decision about the game?

Thought not.

I think the Fable 2 score is more surprising, actually. An official rag scoring one of the winter’s biggest platform exclusives lower than Edge? It’s the end, I tell ya. The end.

I’m with Blerk on this one… If you can’t trust the official magazines, WHO can you trust?

Holy shit people, RELAX, people are taking some scores wayyyy to seriously…7 and up is good..STOP COMPLAINING!

P.S: its up to you to try the game…if some game has a shitty score of 4/10 and you like it, well good for you! if you try a 9/10 game end you dont like it…well good for you! at least you tried it! Take the time to try out a game, too many people judge them on their scores!

9 = the new 6

@ airdom
I don’t care if “7 and up is good”!
Just too many games out there, can’t buy/play ‘em all.

My rule of thumb:

10 = MUST buy/play
9 = SHOULD buy/play
8 = COULD buy/play
7 (and beyond) = DON’T buy/play

Heh you got a point, there are a shitload of games coming out this time of year. Worst comes to worst..if you are interested in something but are unsure, just rent the game, then you’ll get the main idea!
