Speaking with Eurogamer Germany, Dragon Age: Origins lead game designer, Brent Knowles, said that the console versions of Bioware’s next RPG will have same “feature set of the PC experience.”
“We want to assure you that on the consoles, the game has the whole feature set of the PC experience, because it’s a classical western RPG,” said Knowles [translated].
“My first experiences with the console prototype has shown, that we have to put some work in the interface but the main features work pretty well.
“I even sometimes play the PC build with the Xbox 360 controller, what makes a lot of fun,” he added.
Dragon Age will be no typical console RPG, but we hope to get the same quality experience as on the PC. We want to tailor the perfectly game to the consoles and we are aware, that the interface and the controls are a important factor.”

Can’t wait. Never doubted this would make it to consoles.

Well, that’s the 360 version confirmed, then.
morriss said:
it was confirmed for consoles about 5 days ago.

Same experience on consoles?
So that’s multi-disc on 360 and an install on PS3.

Hopefully they won’t cripple the Pc version to guarantee the same experience on consoles …. *fingers crossed*

Well the way he spoke about it was like they were trying to elevate the consoles to the PC, and not the other way round.

Just don’t dumb it down plz
Releasing a console version is a good thing imo, and not dumbing it down but simply making the same game work as well as possible with a joypad is the way to go. Sounds like Bioware is a developer that finally gets it.

I want it dumbed down. PC games are too difficult for me these days after all the years of playing console games.

A console isnt a PC, so I expect the PC version to be fully ‘dumbed down’ to suit the consoles. And as for PC games being too difficult..oh please!

“I even sometimes play the PC build with the Xbox 360 controller”
so yeah, its been dumbed down

I never quite understood the whole “if it doesn’t use every key on the keyboard then it’s dumbed down” thing. Why does ridiculous amounts of complexity automatically equal good?
Smartypants said:
Aw god the hardcore PC nerds are coming out of the woodwork. Of course it’s possible to get a working console version without dumbing it down, it’s just that developers often assume that to have succes on consoles games have to be as dumb as possible. That’s bullshit of course.
Morrowind on the xbox for example, was basically the same as the PC version, and yet it sold far more on the xbox. I can only assume that PC gamers were far too busy with some dumb FPS or other to take the time to figure out how to play a proper rpg.
MesserWolf said:
Smartypants this was meant to be the successor of BG . Of course people have expectation !
The story of gaming so far has taught that PC -> console means to simplify the game. Morrowind was still a game made for pc maily , Oblivion the opposite and look what has happened …
Pc gamers have played RPG that are still masterpiece with no equal in the console gaming (bg , bg2 , torment, vampire bloodlines …)
Games like Mass Effect are great games , but when you compare them to the old-school-rpg it is clear that they lack in complexity and strategy . You have fewer abilities , fewer classes , fewer member of the party , fewer itmes …
Smartypants said:
Vampire and Torment are my two most favourite rpgs EVER
What I meant was: the sales figures for the xbox version of Morrowind prove that there is no need to dumb PC rpgs down for consoles. Developers need to stop assuming that there is ANY need to dumb down for consoles in the first place.
I really hope that DA won’t be dumbed down, because Morrowind proves that console gamers ALSO like hardcore PC rpgs. Just make it as good as possible and then bring out a console version that’s basically the same but with joypad controls.
MesserWolf said:
as I said before …. *fingers crossed*

I’m crossing every appendage I have just to make sure

Developers dumb down games for the mass market. The easier it is to play, the more people can play it right?
