Sony has just announced that LittleBigPlanet will be released “no later than the week commencing Monday November 3 in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.”
“We appreciate all the enthusiasm surrounding this much anticipated title and we would like to thank PlayStation fans for their support and understanding,” says the statement.
The game was originally withdrawn from retail by Sony after it was revealed that two sentences from the Qur’an appeared in a song on the game’s soundtrack.
Last Friday, Sony confirmed that the US will be getting the game “in week of” October 27 and now we have the European release date it is (hopefully) business as usual from here on in.

Heh heh.

Ah well, that’s not as mahoosive a delay as I was expecting. Good news all round.

Maybe we get a free costume thrown in.

Any money this slips to the Friday.

Better than what I’d imagined (ie this slipping to 2009)

“will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis”.
Surely that means the 7th?
pjmaybe said:
Probaly true. It’s a bit of a cack handed way of suggesting that the 3rd will be the new release date. It’s more than likely going to be the friday. Dunno if all territories stagger their release dates across the board though.

The wording is quite interesting. Sounds like it’s going to be a ’soft launch’ of however many copies they can scrape together as and when they’re ready rather than waiting for a full stock load and shipping them all on the same day.
That might not be the best of ideas, tbh. Angry punters, fucked up charts… might’ve been better just to hang fire until they could release a huge batch all in one go.

The actual words from the press release read:
“will start to appear in stores no later than the week commencing Monday 3rd November in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, on a country by country basis.”
week commencing != day of release

Hopefully ShopTo will send it out as soon as they have them :).

Unfortunate wording …

@DrDamn
If there is no fixed release date they won’t hang around. The only problem might be the stock, they’re pretty strictly first come first serve and they’ll probably have a lot of pre-orders.
Psychotext said:
There are going to be a lot of retailers angry about this.
DrDamn said:
@deftangel
I pre-ordered this from them months ago - so hopefully near the top of the list.

So its gets delayed in the US by just a week, yet its 4 weeks for PAL? Strange for something that, apparently was already in some European retailers hands…
Syrok said:
“The UK has confirmed that it should be available on the 5th and no later.”
From the mediamolecule website.
Of course you can just go to a shop now and buy it today.

I find it odd that some online retailers still haven’t updated their dates. Play(.com) still lists the game as the 24th, for example, and considering that it’s already the 20th that probably isn’t wise. I wonder what they’re going to do when the 24th rolls around? Though if I get an early copy (especially of the rare breed), I won’t be complaining. I’m expecting an email “update” any day now, though.
