Bungie’s new IP independent of MS, says Jarrard
In an interview with GI, Bungie’s Brian Jarrard has said that the company’s next IP will not be tied to Microsoft.
“No, we’re not [tied into a specific platform for new IP],” said community and PR director Brian Jarrard, when asked if Bungie’s new IP would be tied to MS. “We haven’t gotten that far yet to be totally honest.
“”In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. So who knows what the future will bring us.”

That’s going to get the internets into meltdown.

I thought MGS were going to publish all their games from now on?

They’re not owned by MS, but MS still have a large stake in them… plus the general assumption was that MS had a three title first refusal publishing deal with them.

The general assumptions are just rumors.
At the end of the day they are now an Indie studio.
I’d expect them to stay on the 360 due to their knowledge of the system but at the end of the day, its up to them.

My bet is their next IP will be an FPS, set in space and Xbox exclusive.

I’d just like them to do something that doesn’t have that bitter Halo aftertaste.

That’ll never happen.
I’d like to see ‘em do Oni, only not broken.

I’d like to see them do anything. But Halo was clearly a thorn in their side when Microsoft controls the IP.

I could see them making a great fortune on a new FPS for a variety of systems but, in the end, Bungie is Bungie, and is more than likely to play it safe with “Mommy Microsoft”, and as for that Halo aftertaste, I’m sure its here to stay…
