LittleBigPlanet will ship in US “in week of” October 27, says SCEA

SCEA has posted an update on the US PS Blog on the issue of a US release date of LittleBigPlanet, saying the game will ship to retail in the week commencing October 27.

The note comes after confirmation that all units currently at retail are to be recalled globally after it was found that one of the game’s background tracks contained some text from the Qur’an.

“We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th,” said Patrick Seybold, SCEA comms boss.

“Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.”

We’re still waiting on a European date.

Thanks, Psychotext.

  1. LBP is gonna ship on Halloween in the UK.

    October 31st.

Give me a minute to dig the source.

EDIT: BINGO! Here it is, it’s for retailers.

You sure that pic was made after all this ‘holy text’ h’allah’baloo (pun) Mr. Cullen?

  5. Agreed, the fallout isn’t as bad as it could have been (No pun intended to the game it now faces the same week) but it still could have easily been fixed with a patch tbh.

    EDIT: Yes, very.

do you imagine how much that will cost Sony to do this? shipping the games from EVERY store, then ship that stuff again? normally they do next day/2-day shipments, and thats damn expensive!

anyways, you can bet that they will get their monies back in no time with the amount of LBP’s that they will sell

I wonder what will happen to those millions of Bd already printed.

I guess that the environment is going to thank those religion fanatics and sony .

  8. SilentLoner said:

wonders if its a publicity stunt

  9. Psychotext said:

If it was a publicity stunt it really wasn’t a clever one.

  10. MesserWolf said:

and an expensive one too . They are really recalling the product and that cost a lot

  11. ecu said:

It’s obviously not a publicity stunt. I mean, if it was, what would they do next? Slaughter a goat and put it on display?

  12. Psychotext said:

Having a party with said goat sounds like a capital idea!

  13. SilentLoner said:

    ok not a publicity stunt\

Will this mean it will lose sales or gain sales?

    DailyMail… Uh huh!

Poor sensitive general public, god forbid you ever have to eat an animal.

Anyway… Fuck this. I am serious. Load of shit, I gotta say, I am all for PC, but if it’s in the song, then the song is what they’re using. Go to the artists… Why the fuck do they ahve to recall LBP.

    AGH!!

Because it is supposed ‘the’ title for everyone, everywhere. Completely, utterly, 100% inoffensive in every way, shape and form otherwise the whole “concept,” the whole “spin” falls flat on its face.

    Mega error.
