Dean: Actually, my post was nothing more than a post drive to see if any further information of their project would accumulate.

And considering that that did indeed happen, even before you posted no less (!), I'd say that the effort was a complete success.

Maybe they waited until they had all the people on board, attached to the project and at the office before announcing anything?

@Esha: You probably can't get insight as to the type of game they're working on from past employment. If that were possible, I can only assume (based on the same principle) that I'm currently working on an platform game for the Amiga.

And besides, the two guys from the HS team had left Ninja Theory ages ago.. Dean Calver was at Frontier from November 2007, and Mark Lack has been at Splash Damage since March 2008.

Wonder why they didn't announce these hires when they happened?

http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/02/18/gdc-splash-damage-says-new-action-ip-will-be-deeper-than-enemy-territory/

I reckon we're looking at a strategy focussed shooter. Would love to see a proper shooter/rts hit the console world. Hiring someone connected ( especially a technical designer ) with World In Conflict suggests to me that's where they're going with this.

Was Quake Wars good then? I wanted to have a look but the reviews put me off it...

Awesome. Those guys at SD are a great bunch and are very community focused. I loved Quake Wars and I can't wait to see what they get up to next.

There's some real pedigree there, and by whom they're hiring and their previous releases, we might even be able to glean some insight as to the kind of game they're making.

Any guesses?
