Tesco sending out Saints Row 2 order cancellation emails

Tesco is now informing all those who took advantage of the seemingly fantastic deal of Saints Row 2 PS3 for £15.97 that the order is cancelled.

The mail reads:

Dear Mr ——-,

We are sorry to inform you that we have not been able to obtain an item in your order.

Don’t worry, we won’t charge you for this item, but this may affect some of the promotions in your order.Your new order summary is shown at the foot of this email.

The item that we were unable to obtain is:

1 x Saints Row 2
Cancelled on Tuesday 14 October 2008

We apologise that we have been unable to fulfil every item in your order on this occasion, but hope that you will return to shop with Tesco.com Entertainment in the future.

Kind regards,

Tesco.com Entertainment

It was bound to happen in the end after the retailer raised the price to £39.97 earlier this morning.

Bet they could “obtain the item” for those who paid fourty quid for it.

Thanks, ecu.

I’m actually a bit disappointed! For the briefest moment, I thought I might actually get it.

I bet they receive 1/20th of the orders they had last night. In fact, I find it hard to believe anyone would actually buy a regularly priced game from Tesco.

  2. Hunam said:

Yep, just got the e-mail also.

Oh well. Was only gonna get the game at the price listed.

  3. morriss said:

yeah. It’s out of order, I reckon. They lie too. Of course they can obtain it, it’s lying there in the stock room. Just admit it and say we ballsed up, are under no legal obligation to honour the deal and have chosen not to do so.

  4. Hunam said:

I might give them a ring tomorrow regarding this, I’ll let you know what they say.

  5. morriss said:

    yeah please do.

  6. ecu said:

Reckon if we make enough noise we could get this on Watchdog? On the basis that they’re lying cunts, that is.

  7. morriss said:

    Yeah!

It’s his fault. I hope he’s proud of himself.

  8. Hunam said:

Yeah, pat, ruining it for everyone. THQ seem to be giving the game away left right a centre, try and snag a few for us and we’ll let you off.

    Heh
    I got the email too.

I think the wording is a little naughty (unable to obtain indeed - so it isn’t for sale at all?) but that’s life.
    Or free publicity ;)

    sue!

I see Pat hasn’t apologised yet.

  12. Shatner said:

The media never apologise morriss. Apology suggests accountability.

hmm.. do I add a smiley or not??

Tesco have sent me another email about the cancellation. They must have read this news article. :D
    Dear Mr —-

If you would like to re-order the product, it is available on our website for £39.97.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    DISCRIMINATION!

It’s ok really pat. The only thing you have to apologise to me for is morriss.

  17. patlike said:

He can make his own apologies. You’re sorry, right morriss?
