Mirror’s Edge is trilogy, says DICE
Speaking to in a video interview with Ausgamers, EA DICE senior producer Owen O’Brien has said Mirror’s Edge is the first part of a trilogy.
“The story we’re telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc,” he said. “For these first couple games, it’s all about Faith. It’s all about her experience in the world.”
Like, he’s not kidding. He went on to say the second game’s likely to have a level editor.
“[A level editor is] something we’re probably going to look out for the sequel,” he said. “The thing is, the game is so easy to play and intuitive, that creating a level editor is a skill in itself. If we do it, we want to make the editor as easy to use and intuitive as the game is.”

What game nowadays is not a freaking trilogy?
You can’t be a AAA game if you don’t have two other games planned out in advance?

How about only putting up news when AAA-game is NOT a trilogy?
Would be much more convenient …

How about this PROTIP for developers out there: concentrate on making the game you’re currently working AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE WITH A SATISFYING ENDING. No holding stuff back for possible sequels! Afterwards, if the game is well received and has sold enough copies, THEN start talking about doing a sequel.

Dear developers,
Please follow the Star Wars pattern.
1. Create a self contained story of the first one so if it stinks at least the people who bought it get closure.
Make it fun.
2. Release the edgier second one. Take a few more chances if you like.
3. Release the third which has a clear end.
4. If people are still interested after this and you’ve done a few other things afterwards then you can come back and rape our memories.
