This game looks great, and seems to be a ballsy new direction for the franchise, while staying perfectly true to what was fun about the Sands trilogy, AND the original.

Some people are understandably bummed that this doesn't follow the same storyline, but it's not as though you can't go back and play those games you really love. And a new chapter there wouldn't make the older games any better either. They are what they are, and I appreciate that is how they will be left.
It's about time a game series doesn't rely on a main character or anything super obvious and familiar to sell it's next installment. And frankly, I feel it's a great show of respect to the previous 3: 'That trilogy is done. Hope you enjoyed it, but we're moving on to not choke every drop out of it until it is laughable'.

Once again the contrarian, and not by choice Gods damn it. And by that I mean that I've liked this game since I saw it, I'm not adopting the opposite opinion just for the hell of it here.

I actually like the look of this, and there's one thing that strikes me right away. First though, I'd like to say that the commonality of the hardcore supports the idea that this is moving further away from the core of what Prince of Persia is and how that's a bad thing. What I see here though is that if they hadn't used the Prince of Persia IP, people might be able to see what's neat about this game.

The AI system intrigues me, and it seems to work so much better than it did in Sands of Time. It's a very fluid thing and it has this Sonic & Tails inertia to it that Sonic 3 did. Don't ask me how I saw that, again... I'm just operating on my impressions, here. It's not often that a player gets one constant and really helpful AI companion. And thank goodness that companion seems independent so we don't have to cart her heiney throughout the levels.

The battles look like fun, the architecture is beautiful, it has a great art style - and one that isn't a joke and doesn't feature grossly over-sized weapons and armour, the whole Claw thing is new and interesting, and generally it looks like a breath of fresh air. I can't wait to play it, and unlike Yahtzee I am unafraid of Teh Gehy that it might represent.

I don't know why I end up with such opposite opinions, but this is a title I'm really looking forward to. It just looks... fun? Sort of in the way that Mirror's Edge just looks shamelessly fun.

I was thinking more of the original Prince of Persia and The Shadow and the Flame" (I think that what it was called) So more human jump and run style instead of magical, flying around, kicking huge monsters style.

I'd rather they didn't. It was great, but they need to move on because they were gradually getting worse rather than better. Looking forward to trying something new.

Right this might or might not be fun, but could the series please return to original concept in the next instalment?
