According to this IGN piece, the latest issue of Famitsu’s leaked that Sony will announce a new 80Gb PS3 bundle at TGS this week.

Bundled with a DS3, the new model will sell for 39,800 yen, the current price of the 40Gb machine. Sony will offer the system in black, white, and silver color varieties.

There’s plenty more information through there on other planned bundles for Japan this Christmas, including those involving LittleBigPlanet.

Thanks, Blerk.

I imagine we’ll be seeing similar bundles for Europe and the US announced too.

I want a zero Gig one so I can put my own friggin’ drive in and not pay over the odds for that component.

Oh, and on this bundle expect some Sony bod to use the term ‘effectively a price-drop’.

They’re saying it again, by the way.

2 or 3 months ago I would have predicted that the PS3 would charge ahead in the ‘Holiday Season’ (Blech, I hate that term). But as long as Sony refuse to help themselves by doing the obvious then I can’t support that prediction.

I am in their target demographic and I still can’t justify the cost of the machine, regardless of how good it is and the support it’s finally getting.

Somehow the price point is way higher then the value( even with BluRay player).. That is a given, and in this economy Sony will loose big this holiday. But my main issue is that they have almost no plan whatsoever to add some RPG’s to their line up.. pretty much nothing..

I’ll be amazed if we get through TGS without seeing at least a couple of PS3 RPG announcements. Even if Sony have to start making them themselves again.

There’s always Wild Arms 6! Microsoft can’t take that away from them.
