    I can’t see the PS3 just doing 215k. Not in a 5 week period.

I haven’t done my predictions yet so I can’t post them for comparison. Maybe tomorrow. :)

I have no idea this month. It’s got to be a big jump for 360, and I can’t see what would have made the difference to PS3, so I’m sure a 360 lead’s along the right lines.

Psycho: what are you’re predictions actually based on? Out of interest.

  4. Psychotext said:

Trends mostly. Anecdotal evidence on supply / sales as well. Especially supply for the Wii. Plus obviously price cuts / promotions.

Like for instance this month I’ll look at how 09/07 compared to 08/07 and how 08/07 compared to 08/08… as well as how the machines are trending this year as a general rule.

    All done. Here’s mine:

    [360] 339K
    [NDS] 615K
    [PS2] 175K
    [PS3] 243K
    [PSP] 285K
    [WII] 530K

The numbers are very specific though: like 329k. I mean, why not 328 or 340? What’s the maths behind the madness? :)

  7. Psychotext said:

Weekly numbers, multiplied, etc. Mathematical formulas etc.

I usually start off with a wide range of numbers and then massage them until they feel just right. They look odd because I base them off percentage changes in sales.

I am not part of maths. So piss off!

I do think your Wii prdictions are a bit high. Dunno why. (hope maybe?)

So I mean, how well is that actually for the 360? This should be the sales spike and it’s 140,000 up on last month. Not even double.

I dunno, I also think your PS3 predictions are generous to say the least.

EDIT: Just noticed, basically, I am a pessimist this month all round.

    Psycho: Is this a hobby?

    /starts to slowly back away

  10. Psychotext said:

Hobby? No. I do it for a monthly competition.

Pud: My Wii predictions are actually a little on the low side compared to what I’ve seen elsewhere but I reckon they’re going to start keeping stock back for xmas now. I think the PS3 will get a slight increase over last month because there was a bit of a stock issue with the old models running out before the new ones hit store shelves in any great number.

    What do you win?

  12. Psychotext said:

Nothing special, couple of games… but I find it interesting as I’m a stats head anyway.

    Maybe if I’m lucky I’ll become Pachter’s boss. :P

  13. morriss said:

    hehe. I knew it! You’re certified! :D

  14. Psychotext said:

    Not sure I follow.

  15. No_PUDding said:

I still think the Wii is levelling off a bit. I don’t think numbers will be insane this Christmas.

  16. Psychotext said:

Ahh Pud… you do keep trying to convince yourself it’s a fad don’t you? :P

  17. No_PUDding said:

    YES :(

    Wii will ruin gaming.

EDIT: I do not midn casual games at all, but I do take issue with them eradicating the support the hardcore titles used to receive from developers.
