First Pikmin Wii shot released

On IGN. It does look pretty cool, to be fair, and looking at it brings memories of the little purple chap flooding back.

Out this year in Japan. Go see.

I wonder if these rejigged versions will have longer loading times than the Cube originals, given that they’re now on full-fat DVDs rather than those dinky little Cube discs?

Aaaaaaaaaanyway… it’s all just a big waste of effort. I suspect when the traditional gamers said they wanted more ‘proper’ games they didn’t actually mean they wanted to pay for their entire Gamecube collection again.

sorry, but i’d gladly pay for something like Wind Waker to have Twilight Princess like controls

actually, i’d say the same with Mario Sunshine with Galaxy like controls.

… oh Metroid Prime 1 & 2 with 3′s controls

but thats me, dont know about everyone else…

There’s a gameplay video over at Nintendos Japanese site.

especially if they’re along the pricing of RE4: Wii Edition, that was brilliant :D

Lets think about Wind Waker for a second.

Using the Wind Waker with the gestures done by the Wii Remote? Gimmicky? God yes, but that is never always a bad thing.

Having never got Pikmin, I may eventually buy those re-releases, but I wouldn’t pay for the ones I all ready have.

I suspect its mainly for those who never had a GameCube, since it didn’t sell too well with the almighty PS2 taking everyone’s eyes from it, they are looking at getting those who missed it the first time to buy these and make some easy money at the same time.

I’m happy to be able to get this, I haven’t played a single GameCube game. So I don’t see anything bad in their re-release.

Hopefully, Bioshock Zero is coming too. That was denied a few months ago, though.

@Heitzu

“Our research has revealed that, due to the fact that the GameCube hardware had not sufficiently penetrated into the market, there were the applicable titles that many people were interested in but, in the end, did not purchase to play. In other words, such titles still have market potential.”

If the games implement wiimote controls to the extent that they play better (like Metroid Prime controls for example) or if they include new content (I’m thinking of Wind Waker’s two missing dungeons here) then I probably would re-buy. But I’m not proud of that.

Tragic, really, this whole repackaged GameCube stuff. Why not use manpower/resources on like, you know, new and interesting games?

Call me radical.

Virtually free money.

Unbelievable marketing decision from Ninty though. Masterstroke.

@morriss: In principle, of course I agree that they should be making new games, but I can’t imagine rejigging classics that didn’t sell as well as they should have to play on similar hardware can’t be that resource intensive. And by all accounts, a new Pikmin Wii game is being made. It was confirmed yet again just yesterday I think.
