Pikmin remake to release on Christmas Day, more GameCube classics on way to Wii

Following an announcement this morning that the original Pikmin was to be remade for Wii, this IGN article informs that the game is to release in Japan on December 25.

The game, part of the new Wii De Asobu Selection brand, will follow Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, releasing on December 11.

Next year, Nintendo plans on releasing Chibi Robo!, Pikmin 2, Mario Tennis GC, Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes.

Which is all quite exciting. More through the link.

    What does this entail?

    Are the game’s simply being transferred onto Wii-DVDs and then marketed in Wii game boxes?

    Are they revamping the controls? In the case of the latter, I’d definitely be interested in purchasing some of Gamecube’s titles for the Wii, given that the Wiimote IR functionality would make them a lot smoother to play. This is especially the case with the Metroid Prime games.

    If the controls work, and I can successfully flog my Gamecube games to someone, I guess I’ll be getting Pikmin and Metroid for this. I won’t half feel like a sucker when I do though. ;_;
