That would make the battery life as poor as the PSPs which I thought was OK but I seem to remember the DS fans bleating about at the time.

The DS uses a fairly generic battery, thus higher quality batteries that are compatible with the DS have been available for a long time (check Amazon and you’ll see what I mean).

I’ve never felt the need to purchase or use one as I’ve always found the life of the DS adequate as-is, but if this is true then I might just get a DSi and my first non-official battery to buff it up with.

Then I’ll be able to chuckle cruelly at little childen whilst on trains or buses as their puny DSi batteries run out but mine keeps going and going. Providing Ninty hasn’t decided to change their battery spec, of course.

So yes… non-official batteries are a fine solution to that particular problem. Only worry? Double the cost to charge, my electricity bill might notice.
