The Punisher: No Mercy coming exclusively to PSN

Posting on the US PS Blog, Zen Studios MD Zsolt Kigyossy has confirmed a new Punisher game for PSN.

“We’re calling the game The Punisher: No Mercy because that’s exactly what it is – merciless,” he said. “For the first time on consoles, you’ll see the Marvel Universe through a first-person perspective in some intense arena-based multiplayer action.

“Also, the game is being built from the ground up with some serious tech – yes, we are using the Unreal Engine 3 (the ultimate FPS engine) for this exclusive PSN release.”

No date. More through the link.

Looking at the shots, I imagine PS3 owners are wishing it was an XBLA exclusive instead.

Where are you seeing the shots Blerk?

Anyway, before I have all my hopes shattered by the impending url ( ;) ) I’ve got to say I didn’t see this coming, and as a huge fan of The Punisher, I’m happy as hell about a new Punisher game coming, even though I can’t say I’m sold on the arena based premise.

I was a big fan of the last Punisher game too, it was a by the numbers third person action game, but it did great justice to The Punisher world, and it’s one of those games I relax into quite often.

Certainly be keeping an eye on this one :)

What shots?

EDIT: Ah, found some.

Can’t say Zen’s previous works have given me much confidence here.

Cheers Shatner.

Impossible to draw any sort of conclusion from that really, but – going purely from shot 3 – it looks as you’d expect a UT3 based Punisher game to look. They certainly haven’t dampened my enthusiasm for the title anyway.
