Xbox 360 name change rumoured to “Pure”
If rumours come on a scale of one to ten, with one being, “There’ll be a new FIFA next year,” and ten being, “Ken Kutaragi’s ass is shaped like a dolphin,” this is probably a nine.
Cheap Ass Gamer’s rumouring that Xbox 360 is getting a name change to “Xbox Pure.” The site reckons the source that passed this one has been right about a bunch of 360-related stuff before, including the console’s HDMI port and a first photo of the Elite.
So this is obviously true. Still. It’s Friday. Full thing through the link.

Can’t be true. If anything, they should drop the “Xbox” part of the name. Most people just call it the 360.

Yeah, I can totally see why they’d spend four years building a global brand and image and then chuck it all away and start again with a different shitty name.
If there’s a grain of truth in it them I’m betting it’s related to some new initiative or service rather than a name change for the box. Besides, “Pure” makes me think of blue. Xbox is green, man. That’s not pure. That’s sort of radioactive. Or snotty.

I wonder if they could be new colours? Granite could be a darker grey version, Pure could be transparent like the old Crystal Xbox. Lean could be… er… red? Like beef?

Update: Looks like this ‘rumor’ was intended as a contest entry on CheapAssGamer. The contest: create a fake rumor and see if any gaming blogs would pick it up – so, we did. And called it a rumor, ie: something that may or may not be true. This one isn’t, so move along.
