360 didn’t outsell Wii in Japan last week, says Media Create

Media Create figures have shown that Xbox 360 didn’t outsell Wii in Japan last week, as you can see at the bottom of the stats service’s site.

The figures that showed the Microsoft machine in front were from Enterbrain, the company that publishes Famitsu.

Here’s the Media Create chart. Data for the week ending September 14.

  • DS – 63,859
  • PSP – 30,156
  • Wii – 29,686
  • 360 – 28,188
  • PS3 – 8,053
  • PS2 – 7,669

Seems like an odd statement to make in an article showing two other machines outselling Nintendo’s fitness machine.

I was actually referring to the article’s point. PS3 and 360 wont outsell the WII exercise machine.

Also those 2 other things are hand-held hardly the same market as a home console. that’s why they refer to that as the Hand-held market :P

I think the bigger, or at least more interesting, story is that the PS3 is barely out-selling the PS2.

Shame! But yes, still plenty for Microsoft Japan to smile about. If they can remember how to smile.

PS3 barely outselling the PS2 is ‘the norm’. It’s been like that pretty much every week this year outside of the MGS4 zone.

Well, PS3 usually outsells the PS2 a bit more than that. I expect thigns to chnage as we get closer to Christmas.

People are probably waiting for the new PSP version. I doubt it’ll take the DS’s crown for long though.
