Sony: No video sharing in Home beta

home.jpg

According to this Wired piece, the promised ability to watch videos with your friends in Home isn’t included in the current beta. Nor, according to Home boss Jack Buser, is it likely to be included in the near future: apparently the firm is “looking into it.”

From the piece:

While PlayStation Home director Jack Buser said the company was “looking into” adding the feature, he also said that Sony’s approach to “user-generated content” was likely to be more of a “Lego-block” structure, in which Sony gives users the parts and lets them create what they want from a predetermined set of tools.

In other words, while Sony isn’t saying whether video sharing will ever happen, it doesn’t exactly sound like a system that provides for letting users stream videos off their PS3′s hard drives.

More through the link. Still no date on when you’re going to be able to try out Home for yourself.

It’s funny…i haven’t really used my PS3 for anything more than a Blu-Ray player, a media center, and sometimes to surf the net (errr…maybe ‘interweb’ to you Brits? I think I saw that on BBCA). I have played some games, demos mostly, and most of Uncharted on it. That being said, I will be playing LBP for sure and inFamous when it comes out as well. Still, I’ve stoked about Home. I know it is nothing really, but I’ll geek out on the ‘decorating your area’ and inviting friends in. I believe it will lead me to playing more games so I can have trophies to show off.
I also look forward to the new 360 update with Avatars and winning clothes and stuff on that.
I know it sounds geeky, but that stuff is just gravy for owning the systems.
Does anyone else find these additions to be ‘cool’? On NeoGaf I’d get spammed with flames from all the haters, but this board is made up of much more rational people so I actually CARE about you guys opinions.

I have nothing against them… but I wont use them simply because I don’t really get enough time for gaming these days, let alone messing around in 3D chatrooms etc. :)

More excited about the 2D element of Home.

But the 3D Trophies and simultaneous joining in games soudsn good.

Just wish my avatar was my Sackboy.

LBP would be a better Home.
