Life with PlayStation really goes live
After yesterday’s botched launch, Life with PlayStation has gone live and is now available for download. Which we are doing as we type.
There’s more detail on the US PS Blog. From the post:
Life with PlayStation provides a stunning interactive globe, a 3D world map that you can twirl around to see live cloud movement courtesy of the University of Wisconsin, combined with up-to-date weather information from the Weather Channel, top news headlines provided by Google news, and live web cam images via the Earth Television Network — all localized to the select city. And why not have your favorite soundtrack playing in the background while you go through your morning ritual (just think, no TV commercials and teasers to find out if you need to bring an umbrella to work)? You’re on your own for your morning caffeine fix.
There’s also an explanatory video, courtesy of SCEA, after the link.

Well, quite. Yet another ‘service’ which nobody really wanted or cares about. They’re all at it these days. I wish they’d put this money into games and stuff instead.

At least this one’s not a “forced” upgrade. Thank gawd.

Blerk this is obviously to appeal to the media centre name.
No one honestly does want it, but it’s still somethign to justify it, without having to sit down and watch BBC news.
patlike, can i download this in Europe? I am installign 2.43 now.

Who honestly watches the news for the weather any more. I have vista’s weather sidebar that constantly keeps me up to date on the weather Now and for the next 5 days.
Even if you don’t have vista it takes all of 2 seconds to go to a weather site.
Then again I’ve not watched TV in 5 years. XD

Very nice it is too. Complete rip off of that Wii News service, but very nice.

I love playing with the globe in the Wii Weather Channel. This HD version looks like even more fun. Love the day/night stuff they added.
