Level-5: “Shocking announcements” next week

whiteknightstory21.jpg

Missed this yesterday. According to Gamekyo, the latest edition of Famitsu has confirmed a Level-5 press conference in Japan next week, at which you can expect “shocking announcements.”

The company is currently finishing up on White Knight Story, which has been confirmed for a Christmas Day release in Japan.

What could this mean? Thanks, Blerk.

I think they make too much money from DS games for them to sell out to Sony now.

SquareEnix buying them sounds more feasible. :-)

I’d love it to be Dark Cloud 3. It probably will be, but they’ll announce it for the DS or something. Just to spite me.

DC is owned by Sony. As is WKC.

But yes, seems a weird time, could it possibly be an acquisitional Press Conference?

Shocking announcements wouldn’t be a new game, but there could be revolutionary games there.

They’re both published by Sony, I’m not convinced they actually own the IPs. So a 360 version of White Knight is out of the question, but a non-Playstation Dark Cloud possibly isn’t.

Sony do own Dark Cloud actually, along with White Knight…

Well, all I’m going by is Wikipedia and GAF reaction.

It’s possible since the line is so fuzzy around things like Resistance IP.

Well Sony have owned the DC IP for a while. The WKC contract is a good while though, heh.

Sony only publish their own games so thats a sign to go by, buying publishing rights just so a game remains exclusive to their systems is, or more was against their policy, though going off what the reps have said recently they want to change that and take the MicroSoft approach.

I doubt they’ll go the Microsoft appraoch unless it’s for very special opportunities.

But I think they will certainly carry on expanding their first party, eitehr library or studios.
