No I don't have any grudge actually. I was aware when I mentioned EA that their 3rd party support that includes the new Rage game by EA has become exemplary in terms of subsidising OUTSIDE studios but other than that stuff like Facebreaker, developed in-house doesn't exactly restore confidence. That said that's not including issues not related to game development i.e. in terms of their draconian DRM restrictions they seem to be quite happy to lumber on people by including it in their games - one obvious example being Spore.

If this practice is copied throughout the industry without consent of the wider gaming community we only have EA to blame for making this acceptable. I know this isn't the case YET however I don't think this situation is far off enough for their dominance not to have an impact in this respect. In this respect to think for one second EA or any companies dominance(despite some arguable spikes in game quality) bodes well or wholly to the benefit of the gaming community even in these circumstances I think would be foolish.

But why would we welcome a yearly refresh of a game like this? Tie them to the films and be happy with it.

"Behold Newbie101 is still a noob"

*laugh*

People still have this ‘grudge’ over EA don’t they.

It’s funny, I don’t love EA, far from it, but let’s look at the games they have ‘farm out’ recently;

Burnout
Battlefield Series
Mirrors Edge
FIFA (which has been getting MUCH better)
C&C (and the new Red Alert game which looks amazing)
Spore

Yes, they have bought a number of development companies who have done the above but they have continued to fund these projects and give them creative freedom it seems which they didn’t have to do.

This is a Bond game, though. Quality doesn't enter into the equation.

Uh... yeah but not so much that there's no room for quality or innovation so that they pump them out in an EA-ish fashion just to satisfy shareholders. Behold Acti's the new EA. Behold Newbie101 is still a noob.

Indeed, a rather sad turn of events, unless they have two teams working on the franchise, so that each game gets at least two years development time.
