Entropay no longer an option on PSN

Those of you hoping to grab yourself a copy of Qore, or purchase anything else on the US PSN whilst not actually having a US credit card, can colour yourselves disappointed. Apparently, the virtual Visa Card issuer Entropay no longer works in Sony’s online shop.

A member of the EU Playstation Boards has posted the following mail which he received from Entropay after realising the service no longer worked.

Dear XXXXXXX

We apologise for the inconvenience.
Although our cards accepted by a vast majority of online merchants, please note Playstation has changed their payment mechanism and is unable to process payments with prepaid cards.
Any pre-authorisations you have should be refunded within 6 working days.
Should you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

So that’s that.

If you registered the online card with a US account before the rule change it still works.

Might be worth pointing that out.

I concur, when I first heard about this in the Eurogamer forums I was able to load my PSN wallet.

I suppose I was lucky in that I linked my Entropa account with PSN sometime late August…just in time.

What a dick move from Sony though.

Actually I don’t think Sony really cared about people being able to buy game content, when the movie section came online though it was possible to click on ads and such and pay money to get something that would never d-load due to IP checks.

I think that might be why they killed Entropay. Just like MS do with their American store.

Any latest statement from SONY regarding the use of ENTROPAY?

As far as I know, most of ENTROPAY users are still able to buy games from PSN Store now (June 2009).

Was there any new deregulation again from SONY lately?

I’m really concern… Will that be a problem later on for us as SONY clients who already bought things from PSN through ENTROPAY, such as our PS3 machines getting banned by SONY?

Because SONY had released their PSN Data Cards (Redeem Vouchers)which can be bought almost in any convenience stores in US. With $20 value for min. and $50 value for max.

I would appreciate a lot if anyone can give any latest information progress about this issue especially related to Obama statement regarding the high bank interest which cost US monetary crisis lately.

Because I just joined here and I couldn’t find any up-dates about this topic.

    Thanks all.
