Speaking to Kikizo at Game Convention, Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce said that the newly formed Activision Blizzard wasn’t exactly named to his liking.
“We actually requested that it be called Blizzard Activision”, he laughed, adding: “You can’t win every battle.”
More, less jokey stuff about the merger through the link.

From the interview;
And, talking of Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick, he told us: “Bobby has been in the business for a long time. He bought Activision in 1991. And he understands the value of the success that we’ve achieved, and recognises that we’ve got a franchise that’s successful, and doesn’t want to mess with that.
He added that Kotick “wouldn’t impose anything that we didn’t feel was appropriate for the Blizzard brand.”
If the golden goose of WoW dies that is it for Blizzard, because that’s the only reason Activision bought them and gives them leeway. If anything were to ever happen Blizzard will be cut loose like dead weight & their oh so picky development practises means they would not last long in today’s environment without another patron.
Thats why its Activision-Blizzard as they’re the ones in charge.

That was intentional, right?

You think WoW is their first and only successful franchise? They’ve already ’survived’ multiple problems with parent companies, departures and several game cancellations. No, if there’s one side of the new company that has more chances of being the inferior partner in terms of what gamers want then it is Activision.
