The Sun: “Sex beast copied Grand Theft Auto”
Rockstar’s going to love this. The Sun’s reporting that “a teen sex beast attacked four women in an imitation of violent computer game Grand Theft Auto, a court heard yesterday.
“Ryan Chinnery, 19, prowled streets in his car targeting females he thought were prostitutes after becoming obsessed with the video nasty.”
Prosecutor Eleanor Laws said Chinnery’s “love of Grand Theft Auto ‘may go some way to explaining his attitude towards women’. She said: ‘Prostitutes in it can be subjected to violence.
“There may be some connection with the defendant admitting spending a lot of time playing that game.’”
Full thing through there. We thought the term “video nasty” had been left in the 80s. Where it belongs.

I’m fairly certain the Sun has a front door with a huge mallet that smashes the brains out of staff when they arrive for work each morning.

Grand Theft Auto caused global warming.
Watch out for the upcoming study from some unimportant guy no one has ever heard of.

I always take a newspaper seriously when it has topless woman underneath the cover.

Is he wearing a cap at a jaunty angle or a giant red sombrero? Why does the Sun not ask these vital questions?

THC – He’s a Mexican cowboy sex beast. The Sun’s always light on detail, unfortunately.

I was just amused that some in the UK media always call it “computer games” rather than “video games” which seems to be the term everywhere else.
I was watching BBC News 24 on the bit about the Mercs 2 stunt in London and the anchor called it a video game but the reporter called it computer game.
Must be some sort of hang over from the days of the Amiga, C64, Amstrad etc.

Good lord. I suppose people who killed people in the past were influenced by the awesomeness that is GTA echoing through time?
