This is insanely smart, if a little late.
Even if it sells only to a fraction of people that can afford this (and given the low price there will be many, with the growing middle class in India) it will make Sony big bucks. It’s all proven technology, folks. Near zero expenses, just earnings earning earnings…

That really sux though. I remember my friend trying to brush off BC (because he couldn’t get the 80 without dropping another Christmas gift), and now he wished he had it.

FireFly… most PS3s don’t play PS2 games. We haven’t had a BC PS3 in Europe or Japan for about a year now. Even in the US they’ve had the BC version on sale next to the cheaper non BC version (but only temporarily).

Actually, its only the 40 and new 80….Most PS3’s do play PS2 games (for now)

By the time they’re done with the PS2, PS4 will be out already…..I wonder if they’ll just skip it(PS3)

I don’t think India is really a big market, especially for big-bucks HD consoles. Didn’t Microsoft pull their Indian 360 operation after only a short while on the market due to complete customer apathy?

Why not go with ps3.

When are they going to drop the ps2 altogether.

It has to be hurting ps3 sales.
